Browser and uploading problem... help

Since I can't think of a better place to put this, here goes.

This is probably just a small problem... but anyway. For the past few days, I've had trouble uploading things anywhere. Such as, when I try to upload an attachment to anywhere I post (mainly images), as soon as I select the file, the browser just... closes.
The exact same thing happens when I try uploading them to imageshack. And... just about everywhere else.

I'm using windows ME... and yeah, I know that's the shittiest system there, and using FF as my current browser.


So, uh... help!

I really don't know if this could help, but you might want to reinstall firefox.

Have you tried using another browser? I would make sure that it's not just a Firefox-exclusive problem before you go and reinstall the software.

Other than that, run the usual adware/spyware/virus scans.

Well, I ran adaware, didn't really fix this problem. Might reinstall, but while we're at it, I found out that it's not just uploading that causes it to close. It's pretty much whenever I OPEN a browse window for uploading or downloading, the whole thing also closes when I press cancel. Pretty much whenever I close the "Save as" or "upload" path window, selecting as well as pressing cancel or X, the entire browser closes along with it. Anyone familiar with that?

what version of firefox are you using? what have you done to it recently? did you try with IE? did you try disabling extensions?

I could've sworn I read a bugzilla bug about the open/save as dialogs recently, but I can't remember where it was or what it did.

I've been having some weird errors with FF myself recently. 1.05 seems to be more stable than the current 1.06. If your problems are that significant, you might want to consider switching back.
