I once read, and have since been under the impression, that bug Pokemon are the weakest type and therefore aren't good to use in battle beyond, let's say 3 or 4 badges. Thoughts on this? How often do you all, as mostly seasoned trainers, use bug Pokemon in later parts of the game? Who do you use and what moves do you use? I've used a Volbeat with shock wave and signal beam up until 6 or 7 badges, but other than that, my experience using bug Pokemon for very long is a small one.

I've heard Heracross and the Scyther family are used alot though.

Is there a legendary bug yet?

I was thinking in the next game they could have the three legendary bugs, Ice/Bug, Electric/Bug, and Fire/Bug types.

I was thinking this because Satoshi's childhood hobby was bug-collection, which inspired Pokémon.

Oh yeah! I forgot about Aruseus!

He's an event Pokémon. To me, he's not even a Pokémon, because I live in Canada, the land of Pokémon-haters who have somehow kept Pokémon as the #8 show.

I used a bug in my Red version. Missingno. was one of my team members. :D

...

Someone had to make the joke sooner or later.

They're not the weakest type. It's just that many Bug Pokemon typically appear early on in the game and are intended to be introductory Pokemon like Ratatta and are thus purposefully weak.

However, Heracross, Scizor, Shuckle, Shedinja/Ninjask, Beequeen, and Armaldo are all quite usable. Pinsir too, to a slightly lesser extent.

It's a pretty good Special Sweeper. Not fantastic, though. A good alternative to Ninjask if you want something slower but more offesnively oriented.

Shedinja's a really good bug if you know how to use it properly. Particularly helpful in the Battle Dome for those Single-Type enemy trainers.
