After having a few battles on Wi-fi and getting absolutely smashed, bar one where you cleaned me off Sanwin with your hidden Salamence!:p, i'v decided to attempt to build a team that can be more effective and hopefully win me a battle!

Right, to begin i decided to pick and choose multiple units of 3 pokemon, and see which worked best together attacking and defending and setting up sweeps!good synergy basically!!

Unit-01

Arcanine
Intimidate
Hasty
192HP/252Atk/64Spe
Charcoal/Lum Berry
Flare Blitz
ExtremeSpeed
Toxic
Dragon Pulse/Overheat

As a lead pokemon i was intrigued by arcanines decent stats and of course the off the bat ExtremeSpeed priority. I decided to pick the anti-lead MS as it covers a wide range of types, opting for Dragon Pulse at the min.

Blastoise
Torrent
Modest
252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpA
Razor Fang
Rapid Spin
Ice-beam
Surf
Protect/Rain Dance/Focus Blast

Blastoise is my so-called Support Tank Spinner, as i like to call him. Rapid Spin is obvious. Ice-beam is to cover dragon threats as a revenge killer, and with his bulk and typing he can switch in effectively to take hits. Surf as a good STAB. Not sure about the last move slot?

Electivire
Motor Drive
Quirky
36 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe
Expert Belt/Life Orb
Brick Break/Focus Blast
Thunder/Thunderbolt/Thunderpunch
Protect
Dig/Earthquake

With Blastoise as a lure, hoping to take advantage of the Motor Drive, but even with out it Elec and Arcanine are the main early hitters of the team. Brick Break is to deal with common walls like Blissey and steel types. Thunder is dependent on whether i pick rain dance for Blastoise, the other two if i don't. Dig/earthquake to deal with opposing electrics, ground and steel.

Unit-01 was picked to pave the way for Unit-02, my sweepers. Overall, they complement each others weaknesses perfectly, with Blastoise acting as a lure for a possible electivire sweep and arcanine clean up job before the sweepers even begin. 8 resistances, and 11 types covered with the movesets.

Unit-02

This was significantly harder and took longer to pick. I wanted a physical and Special Sweeper, and a mixed Tank Sweeper as support. Lets start with the support.

Registeel
Clear Body
Bold
252 HP / 168 Atk / 88 Def
Leftovers/Expert Belt
Ice Punch
Explosion
Earthquake/Calm Mind
Hammer Arm

Registeel was always my first choice as the mixed tank sweeper, with his high def and Spec def and useful movepool. His resistances are vast which was a major factor. His weaknesses are covered by Blastoise and the following 2 Sweepers.

Absol
Super Luck
Bold
252 Atk / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
Life Orb
Stone Edge
Sucker Punch
Water Pulse/Swords Dance
Night Slash/Psycho Cut

I've never used an Absol before, but have always been attracted to its broad movepool and high attack stats. Stone Edge is to dent bulkier tougher opponents, sucker punch priority is obvious. Then i've either water pulse to help overcome Registeels weakness to ground, or swords dance. Psycho Cut IMO is the better option over NightSlash (Though NS has STAB).

Espeon
Synchronize
Modest
252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Life Orb/Leftovers
Psychic
Shadowball
Hyperbeam
Trick Room

Espeon is the star of the show, and the core and mainstay of this unit and team offensively. Great Speed and Spec Attack combined make it lethal with STAB Psychic. Shadowball is their to cover weaknesses, and its a strong move, might replace with calm mind though. Hyperbeam for high powered assault. Trick Room is the ACE up my sleeve, with Absol and Registeel being notably slower, as are Electivire and Blastoise, its an unexpected surprise as iv seen most people don't use it or know about it(according to Smogon)

Absol, Espeon and Registeel cover each others weaknesses, have the main resistances covered and have a versatile movepool. Overall, i think its a decent team with some potential. I've put alot of thought into this team so hopefully it'll work. Now what are your thoughts people?

even if it's not ev trained yet, post the ev's you're gonna give it in the future. Else this thread'll be closed.

Registeel wouldn't be that useful as a sweeper. It's too slow to do it. Also, Rain Dance isn't good for just a one Pokie move. There are reasons for teams to be centered around it, not just for one. I would use protect.

Not to be redundant or anything but i also am not a big fan of the registeel...however blastoise setting up the rain dance for electivire isnt bad in my opinion. but it wouldnt be a bad idea to sub in somebody else who would benefit from the rain dance as well, maybe a kindra's swift swim? anybody else have a better idea, I dont know much about rain dance teams.

As said before, even if your pokes are not EV trained, you still should post the EVs that you will give them.

Lum berry over Charcoal on your Arcanine.

Leftovers on your Blastoise seeing as he is your spinner.

Two turn moves are almost always a no-no. If you want a ground move go with Earthquake. Protect on Electivire doesn't really do anything for him, replace with Flamethrower. You could have Cross Chop over Brick Break, it has more power (which Electivire wants) and a high CH rate. Thunderbolt is more reliable then Thunder as this team isn't really dedicated to Rain Dance enough to bother with it.

I've never used Registeel so can't help you there.

DEFINETELY choose Swords Dance over Water Pulse. The only special attack that Absol should ever use is Fire Blast (and even then thats for specific steels). Also consider Superpower. It will let you go fully physical and still hurt Steels.

Get rid of Trick Room on Espeon. The turn after you use it Espeon will be KO'd thanks to its frail defenses and high speed. Hyper Beam is awful, replace with HP Fighting if you can.

As you can see this is a really basic rate, I havn't even touched on EVs or natures. This team needs a lot of work but there are some very good raters here who will help you out :)

ok im in a rush so il get through the comments later on!!

BUT i will say i WILL have the EVs up over the next few days so PLEASE dont close the thread!

Thanks!

PS

Thanks for the comments

Registeel wouldn't be that useful as a sweeper. It's too slow to do it.

yeah but thats not the point, the point is he can TAKE hits, and still be strong enough to deal some more out afterwards, and with the Trick Room in play from Espeon, he potentially would be a great sweeper, as the slower pokemon moves first! Also, he has the most resistances of ANY pokemon! pretty useful, am i wrong?

however blastoise setting up the rain dance for electivire isnt bad in my opinion. but it wouldnt be a bad idea to sub in somebody else who would benefit from the rain dance as well, maybe a kindra's swift swim?

yeah i had considered that, but i dont know who to take out for Kingdra if i was to do that??

Get rid of Trick Room on Espeon.

Why? i read on Smogon that if used correctly, Trick Room could be very effective as most people over look its usefullness!
