Moderators Jabberwocky, LightningTopaz and Aladar are hosting the first quarterly fanfiction contest, taking place in Bulbagarden's Writer's Workshop.

If only I had a new chapter out. But I've got finals and all.

I hope I get featured. I don't care whether or not I place; I just want people to read my stuff. Be sure to read "Pokemon Emerald Adventure". (You know, promotion and all that bullsh*t.)

Great banners Blaze! I'm glad this got posted.

To anyone who isn't very familiar with the Writers Workshop: It's awesome there. There are so many good writers and so many awesome stories from all across the board. Any kind of story you like, there's something for you.

I would just like to encourage all the pokemon lovers on this forum to go to the WW and check out a few stories. I'm telling you, a lot of the fics on the garden are a blast to read.

Just browse through and find something you like. To those who have never or rarely click onto the Writer's Workshop... take the time to read some of the amazing stories; all the authors here work extremely hard and put a lot of care and time into their craft.

Here are some I recommend:

Rival's Story by Gastly's Mama

Speargun: The Untold Story of Cyrus by Battle Droid

Cherish the Moments by TheProphetJerematic

Pokemon LX: The Sinnoh Journey by Aladar

The Kanto League Saga by Music Musato

Wings Have We by Giratina

Son of Earth - A Rival's Tale by Ryuutakeshi

Pokemon GK by Jabberwocky

And MANY MANY more!

So yeah, just wanted to say that the Writers Workshop is my favorite part of the garden. It's like an amazing all-pokemon library that all of us at the garden have instant access to whenever we want to get lost in a great pokemon-story.

Please just at least check out a few and vote in the contest. Each and every writer on our site works very very hard to produce fun and enjoyable stories, and it would be nice to show them how united we are at Bulbagarden by participating in the contest.

Here's all you gotta do:

1. Go to the Writer's Workshop and read fics
2. Nominate your favorites for their categories on June 10.
3. Then go vote for them, starting a week later.

Anyways, sorry for the long post... but yeah I just love the WW, so I want to see the contest be a success, and I want to see my friends and peers at the WW get the credit and exposure they deserve.

Does it have to be a fanfiction? Or can it be a normal non-pokemon story?

Yes, anyone can enter, but bear in mind that it has to be nominated by a user other than yourself and this has to happen before the 17th of June. Basically, if you're starting right now I don't know how good your chances are, but my advice would be to try your best because even if you don't win anything, there'll be more awards in three months time and if you start your story now you'll have an even better chance of getting one then!

Yep, that's right. This is certainly going to be awesome. I'm actually working on my villains to get nominated for the Best Villian category. Good luck to everyone, as well!

Yeah, and please note, as few people seem to be, that this is awards not a competition. I'm aware that this seems like a insignificant distinction, but it isn't asking people to write fics so that they can win prizes, it's supposed to be to award people who are already writing for Bulbagarden.

I agree, mainly since the headline is : Bulbagarden announces first quarterly fanfiction contest. Guess that last part makes people believe they should enter their fanfics at the last minute to win the prize.

Ahhhh, you're correct, I didn't notice that. Poor wording on the part of whoever made the announcement on Bulbanews. It should say first quarterly fanficion awards.

Well, too late now I guess.

It's not a contest where there is a definite start date to submit. The event is an awards ceremony which recognizes the best fics on the Writers Workshop forum.
