I wasn't sure if I should post this in the General Issues thread or not, but since this is an issue with the Archives and not the site itself I've decided to post here.

I've attempt to upload pictures from the latest Japanese episode, but some reason the site isn't letting me saying that all editing has been blocked. Is this for just me, or is it a general issue at the moment. I've searched the site and couldn't find anything.

All editing is probably blocked because of the new 5th gen leak. I think they want to avoid people uploading random crap.

Makes sense. Does anyone know when it's going to be unblocked?

I would think there would be an announcement somewhere on the main page or on the archives page. Either that or just check back in a day or so.

Ohh, no wonder. D: Too bad, I wanted to upload clean scans of Black-chan and White-kun...

Exactly correct. Users have a tendency to not look at what is already uploaded, and upload the same thing multiple times. Now, while the servers are causing deletion not to work properly, we need to avoid as much uploading of duplicates as we can. This typically is only really bad after something big is revealed/released, so it should only ever be locked for as much as a day after a possible said release.

There should at least be a warning on the Main Page.

Plus, the message is broken when trying to edit.

Also, I got more hires pics from BW.

Perhaps only the "File:" namespace should be locked so as to allow for discussions of Archives stuff or just stop people from uploading images if possible to allow redirects to be made.

In some cases they're fine, though, Nate... like when an item or something has multiple names.

Though do believe I have made some useful redirects on the Archives I also see where that might not be encouraged. I do, however maintain that the ability to discuss Archives issues in the proper place shouldn't be removed in fear of n00bs uploading duplicate Gen V info.
