Bulbagarden Battle League: Season 0.5 [DONE]

Many thanks to all those who participated during Season 0, we're giving an extension to those who joined us later in the season as well as a chance to challenge our other gym leaders!

Welcome to the unofficial Bulbagarden Battle League! This is a project that some members have been working on to set up a battle league here in the forums. This will give you a chance to play against actual gym leaders on a quest to get badges and make your way to the Elite 4! The BBL is here to give you a platform to test out the teams you've been working on and to hone your battling skills.

When signing up please provide your 3DS FC and trainer name. Feel free to ask any questions and good luck with your battles!

This season of the BBL will close on Sunday February 2, 2014.

Format: Single Battle, Normal Rules
Clauses:
- Pokemon above OU are banned (The latest XY tiers can be found here: XY Tiers - Smogon University)
- Species Clause
- Sleep Clause
- Item Clause
- Evasion Clause
- Moody banned
- OHKO Clause
- Drizzle + Swift Swim allowed
- Gengarite banned
- Kangaskhanite banned

League:
- A challenger will go through the league using a team of 6 Pokemon. This team may not be changed throughout the duration of the challenge.
- Challengers may fight against the gym leaders in any order.
- Gym leaders may change their lineup without prior notice.
- If a challenger loses, they may not request a rematch with that gym leader until 24 hours have passed.

Battles:
- Any battle between a challenger and gym leader is recognized as an official gym battle.
- Send notifications to gym leaders before challenging them to a battle. No random battle requests.
- Any disruption of a battle will award the victory to the gym leader. Any persistent issues with disconnection may be brought up with the BBL.
- A disconnected match will count as a battle and rematches will follow the same mechanic as above.
- Be courteous and respectful to your opponent.

*Team lineups of challengers will not be shared between gym leaders. Any issues may be brought up with the BBL.

Assuming normal BBL rules are applied by Sharkshocker during this transition yes. As a general rule if you've beaten a gym leader then you need to keep the team that you used.

Just to confirm, yes you will be still be the using the team you have used since you've already won against a gym leader.

We won't be accepting new gym leaders until the end of the season. This will give us time to look over all applicants and evaluate them before making a decision.

I'll repost this part I mentioned on the end of season 0, to clarify for others who have applied or are planning on applying.

If you have previously applied for these types please continue to participate in the league so that we can see how well you fare. If you have applied for a type that has already been taken feel free to apply for any of the open positions. We will make our decision regarding any applicants when we close Season 0.5. Thank you.

-Skilled, but seems a little condescending and rude? Not the best attitude for a program designed to be helpful to new players and casuals, who might be put off. Spelling and diction could use work, professionalism (as well as friendliness) should be a standard of the BBL

That depends on how well you improve your attitude. As -Glory Blaze- said, this is also a program designed for people who are new to the competitive scene and want to make a good team. Being nice is one of the criteria for being a good gym leader.

Thank you for the notice, please post what time zone you are in so people can coordinate with you. I also suggest sending VMs to gym leaders so that you can notify them directly.

That depends on how well you improve your attitude. As -Glory Blaze- said, this is also a program designed for people who are new to the competitive scene and want to make a good team. Being nice is one of the criteria for being a good gym leader.

It should have been private, but if we don't tell him why he's being denied he won't be able to fix it. So yeah, we aren't trying to bash you, JTFX, just letting you know how you can improve to get the position. Sorry if anything came off as offensive.

Sorry I've been inactive as of late. I started breeding Pokemon for my team, and I just got really burnt out on Pokemon for a while. Hatching dozens of eggs in a row will do that to a man...

But! I'm feeling up to it again! I think I've got my team ready, all that needs to be done now is some EV training and setting up moves. Then maybe I can get back to battling, you know, the actual fun part of Pokemon. xD

Haha it's actually the opposite for me. While I do enjoy both breeding and battling I like breeding more and then to take a break I battle once in a while.

Yes if you are interested in applying as a gym leader you would provide your information here. We would like to look over all of our gym leader applicants before accepting them, so if you are applying go through the league and battle our gym leaders so we can evaluate how well you'd fit into the program.

You add their friend codes on page 1. They will then add you when you message them on the forums. Then just arrange a time to battle in game or just whenever see them online. 3 of them are ingame online right now
