Bulbagarden Conversational Chat Thread Vol.5

-- Personally, I think it is positive that your country is concerned about both the psychological and economic health of its citizens, as well as with the sustainable development of the video game industry.
I fully agree. loot boxes should absolutely not be allowed, especially in games directed at younger audiences. There's a reason why we don't let kids into casinos and such. I just don't like that i don't get to play this game because it has a loot box system (that i absolutely would not under any circumstance interact with. fuck that bullshit.)

IDK what country you live in, but in some countries that have 'banned' loot boxes, it seems they're not even enforcing the ban.

Like Belgium banned them in 2018 and yet a study showed that 82 of the 100 highest grossing iPhone apps in 2022 in Belgium were still selling loot boxes.

But I guess Nintendo doesn't want to get involved in controversy or something.

true, but 99.9% of people who don't quit gambling also lose out on the jackpot
It's like playing Pokemon. If you don't use Thunder it has a 0% chance of hitting the opponent as opposed to a 70% chance if you do use the move. Are you gonna use Thunderbolt with a 100% chance to not KO the opponent? Didn't think so.

I love statistics.

this would be an accurate analogy if Thunder had a 0.01% accuracy. You aren't going to turn a profit off of gambling. if gaining money from gambling was feasible, casinos and lotteries would go out of business. Don't throw your money away.

Very random: I have gotten two text messages from Publix, one on the 27th and one today, saying that I have prescriptions ready for pickup.

I do not have any prescriptions and the Publix they say I'm supposed to pick up these prescriptions from (that again: are not for me because I do not have any prescriptions) is one that's 14 miles away.

I have no idea what to do.
I keep getting texts from a dental office in my city saying there’s an appointment for someone lol

I know they exist in my city and the area code checks out, but the names wrong and I don’t even go to that dentist office

It’s weird

Edit: I also got one from a sushi place in California telling me there’s an order ready for a guy called “Aron”

I wanted to respond with a picture of the Pokémon but I didn’t

I got a call from the dentist today but it was a legit call telling me that stuff for me and my grandpa arrived from the lab, but I told them my grandpa's in therapy recovering from a broken hip and we decided that maybe we should wait until he's recovered (even though I could go to the dentist by myself).

I'm fairy certain gamblers know the house always wins.

This happened yesterday but I love when I get substitutes for grocery items I order for delivery and the substitute doesn't work for what I wanted the original item from lol.

Yesterday I ordered groceries for delivery cuz I wanted some ice cream and I don't have a car so I can't go to the store in-person and get the ice cream cuz it'd melt by the time I got back home. And, among the various items I ordered, three items were substituted. Two of them were literal 'OK who cares?' like does it matter at all if the 1 lb bag of frozen home-style store brand meatballs gets substituted with the 2 lb bag of frozen Italian-style store brand meatballs (minus the fact that the 2 lb bag costs like $4 more) or if the store-brand penne pasta gets substituted with a name-brand penne pasta that costs like 30 cents more?

BUT the third item!!! I wanted these bacon-wrapped chicken breasts stuffed with jalapeños and cream cheese because they sounded really good and I was gonna have one for my dinner last night with a baked potato but I didn't get them, I instead got bacon wrapped jalapeños with cream cheese. I guess my shopper was going 'OK well they're out of those chicken breasts, but these have everything BUT the chicken breasts, so they should be good enough' but it was not good enough, I cried over it when I saw I wasn't getting the chicken breasts. Those were what was most important, you could have grabbed anything in the 'ready to cook' section of the deli that were chicken breasts and I would have been fine.

I mean I still ate theme because what the hell else was I gonna eat, but it still wasn't the same as what I wanted for my dinner and yes I did genuinely cry over it lol.
