Hello Bulba Idols!

@Aestivate; @ShinjIteru; @The Puppetmaster; @Domino White; @Wolverine; @Winged Psychic; @Yoshi-san; @SSJ_Jup81; @Badal

This is the Bulba Idol Feedback thread. I would like you all to take a few minutes and post about your idol experience. What parts did you like/didn't like? Any suggestions for Bulba Idol 3.0? (Sometime next year).

One more thing, I was thinking (and hoping) all of you would like to do a collaboration together. Does that sound like a good idea?

I was thinking you all could sing "Don't Stop Believing" as a group song, unless anyone else has any other suggestions.

I want feedback from our judges/voters too.

So @Hallowheart; @Karamazov

and

@AetherX; @MusicNFics; @Mintaka; @Meron; @DCM; @hurristat; @Kakuna Matata; @J J M; @Winterdaze; @Zenax; @Taiki; @darkqueen; @Croag

What did you think?

It was really fun to hear everyone's entries each weeks. The themes were also well thought, it added a nice touch to the whole thing. I especially liked the third week, because we got to hear a lot of different songs from different cultures.

I thought it was great, very well organized and consistent!

What Hallow said. It was really good. I just wish we had more entries each week.
The whole shebang really took off later in its run, near the last 4 or so weeks. It was fun seeing how far everyone had gone.

Yes, it was extremely well organized and I felt that everything went really smoothly. There did seem to be an issue with consistency of entries per week, since I think that as the competition went on, our priorities also piled up. So, in a sense, I felt it was a bit long (ten weeks over the span of 2 and a half months is pretty killer ^^;); On the other hand, I guess it gave us more themes to work with, so that was cool. Maybe if it was started a bit earlier in the summer, it wouldn't be a bad idea ^^

Mega collab seems good *3*

@Paperhorse I want to thank you and command you for orginizing the whole thing. Things ran smoothly and I had a blast. It was fun and I liked the themes (except one XD) I got nothing but good words to say to all the contestants, judges and organizers.

It looked so fun and I enjoyed listening to people trying to do songs, especially ones out of their comfort zones. I don't think there was any contestant who didn't have talent or showed progression which is always good. I'mma definitely join in the next one... maybe.

I really enjoyed following all the entries each week. I would have loved to enter, but I got there a little too late. :(
I agree it could have been maybe one or two weeks shorter, but other than that it was great.

It was a lot of fun, and we certainly have a lot of singing talent here at Bubagarden!
I was also impressed with how much several of the contestants improved over just 10 weeks.
Thanks Paperhorse for all your hard work!

The round four thread with all the glorious Iteru x Piggy shipping hints that practically made it canon...yeah that was pretty glorious.

I thought it was great and the choice of themes was good too. I don't really have any major criticisms. The scheduling of it wasn't an issue for me and I was at work during the weeks when most people would be on school holidays.

I thought this was really fun. I just hate the fact that stuff kept coming up which prevented me from submitting something every week. I like the fact that BI 2.0 was more organized compared to the original, and for the most part, I enjoyed the themes. They were fun (and even more fun to hear everyone else's entries, especially the country music theme).

If I could change anything, though, I'd change the submission times for the contestants, as that was the main reason why I couldn't submit stuff some weeks. Lack of time due to work. I liked the first week time wise. Everything was due on like a Saturday morning or something. I'd change submission times to be due Saturday afternoon and votes due by early Sunday afternoon (12 pm maybe?) and the new theme revealed Sunday evening. For the most part, most everyone is free on Saturday and Sundays and seems that would've worked out better for those who are stuck working Monday - Friday (and in my case, with constantly changing work hours). Of course for the last round, I was screwed because I was called into work early and couldn't record anything.

As for the group song, sounds fun...but not sure if I even know the song you suggested.

I liked the feedback from the judges since it was nice to know what I should and shouldn't work on. Although, sometimes I had trouble following the advice as the advice could be too vague occasionally.

Activity also dropped off near the end which could be fixed by having less rounds or more contestants or maybe a tangible prize of some kind like a forum badge or an option to change your forum name into a different colour (Not sure if that is possible).

I had fun and it was great to see everyone's submissions.

Since this is a pokemon forum, how about we do the pokemon theme from the first series for the collaboration?

tl;dr i had fun, piggy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the world >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> me, though i thought the competition was way too long (getting in entries these last few weeks was... an adventure) and the judging kind of inconsistent - the fact that we had consistent judging that dropped off to like occasional judging was a little frustrating considering no one would comment on what we were doing which was probably why activity dropped.

i'm still rooting for seasons of love :c

We have quite a bit of talented singers here, it was great to hear those that had the time and opportunity to participate.

The competition seem to experience a decline as the weeks went on, what with carrying on over into the start of the school year for quite a few members. This gave us the chance to see what range the participants had as the themes were pretty diverse, but honestly, I think if it was a bit shorter it would work out better. Maybe 7 weeks, in the event of a tie?

That or starting it a bit earlier next year as suggested earlier in the thread.

*cough*

Um...ok. Well, one of the reasons I didn't get most of my entries in was crap kept coming up with me. Like my Laptop breaking, having to use the library, finding a mike, getting Audacity to work, find MP3 files and such it was a pain in the butt, so I apologize on not getting mine in more often.

I very much enjoyed listening and judging everyones entries, I thought everyone who competed was a great singer and I dont think there wasnt a person who hadnt improved. The only thing that I didnt like was the short span of time that entires had to come in. For me atleast, it made it very difficult to judge towards the end because usually a lot of the entries came in at one time and when school started I couldn't keep up. Other then that I had a great time and I apologize for my inactivity in the last couple of rounds.

Also, do you think it would be possible to introduce illimination?

Good to see y'all again! Remember how we planned to do that collaboration? Well, some ideas have been flying around, so I've split up parts for two song ideas that have come up: "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey and "Seasons of Love" from Rent.

Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlights people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night.

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time

Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlights people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night.

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlights people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on
Streetlight people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlights people

First and foremost, it's okay if you cannot or do not want to be a part of this collaboration. However, we please ask that you inform a Media Menagerie mod so we know.

Now, we can do one or the other, or even both of these songs; what do y'all want to do? And after we've decided on that...

Please record yourselves singing a capella, which means without the music backing your voices; still sing along with the karaoke tracks provided in this post, just make sure that what you ultimately send doesn't have any music in the background. Even though you each have your own parts assigned, please record yourselves singing the entire songs in case we need to make changes. Oh, and don't be afraid to add some harmonies; in fact, they're encouraged (as long as they're fitting xD)! Submit your final recordings to me, The Puppetmaster, by October 19, 2011.

If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or whatever else, please say so in this thread.
