[Bulbanews] Cartoon Network reportedly in negotiations with Pokémon USA

According to them, Kids' WB!'s decision to not renew its rights to air Pokémon was based on Pokémon USA's recasting of characters

Am I the only one that realises that bit is complete nonsense?

ALL anime was ditched by the WB, I very much doubt every single one of those happened to be recasted at the exact same time as well.

The WB ditched Pokemon because it was an anime, simple as that.

But the only other anime they currently air is Yu-Gi-Oh, which is ending in a few weeks.

They also air Viewtiful Joe, which will not have ended when WB pulls it.

I can't hesitate to say, that it is apparent lie from Veronica Taylor. Now, I'm sure that the only concern about Pokémon Anime from old VA's is their job, which they lost. So, now, they tried to prevent from airing Pokémon, 'cause "We lost our toy, so we can't allowed anyone to have that toy too":uhoh: Little they care that it will be definite end of Pokémon at all, not only Anime:saiyan:

That link doesn't work, Archie.
It will now.

I'd prefer to think for now that she's been given bad info. VA's are *very* far from management, usually. The best most of them manage are script editing or voice direction. And even there, they are far from being the big decision makers for properties.
Remember everything Mike Pollock used to tell us? VA's know very little. They can't give us this info. And even if they could, they're usually not allowed to tell us.

That's a key problem with this whole thing: We are getting different information from different people. In just this specific part, we have the original VAs being told one thing and "NewBrock" being told another. PUSA seem to be the ones not giving out the whole truth and the whole mess we are in is the result of it.

We don't know that. PUSA could be telling the truth (from what they know), and the 4Kids VA's are being totally misunformed, for all we know. As it was mentioned elsewhere, if PUSA were told those things by 4Kids about the contracts, even if what they were told was a load of bollocks, they wouldn't have had any reason (from their perspective) to contact the current VA's for the main characters.

It's an important point that PUSA have brought on a *lot* of the old dub crew (not the cast, but the behind the scenes crew) from the 4Kids dub, apparently. Some of them are from the original seasons, while others are from the current season. While the decision makers have changed (PUSA instead of 4Kids), the people carrying out those decisions, with the exception of the VA's, isn't really that much different to what we've had before.

Well, see, that's where I think that the 4Kids VAs just felt the need to let us (their fans) know all that important information just because we needed to know it very badly. And who better to tell us about it, than the VAs themselves?

The people high up in PUSA who know exactly what is going on.

Oh yeah, them. ^^o

Well, of course, they would be the best possible source for this kind of information.

But, no, they have to be very secretive about everything, and either completely ignore us or just avoid telling us...... :eek:hdear:

Though I love Veronica Taylor but she seems to be misleading us in that "letter" aka thinking we have no clue! The ONLY thing I don't like what PUSA is doing to the anime is the new cast of voice actors/actress. I found nothing wrong with the scripts, sound mixing and especially the music. If the special was "more violent" and didn't meet the Y-TV rating I'm sure parents would be complaining and PUSA would be in trouble with the FCC. So even if Veronica and the gang was giving misleading info I don't think saying "the dubbed by PUSA was terrible/not standard to what 4Kids used to do" suits it.

If I were to write a letter I would only state that I don't want Pokémon to be on Cartoon Network ...or cable/satellite exclusively.

That's why I'm having trouble trusting Veronica right now. She's making "grand accusations" that just aren't true. How much of the rest of the information is she's givenus to get us upset and take action is false? I refuse to believe all this. Pokemon USA wouldn't go through the hassal of getting new VAs if they didn't have to. I don't think it was their decision.

Take all that with a grain of salt, though, as I will enjoy the show either way.

But if we are to trust Blackjack's source, then they did it because they thought we wanted it after eight years of bitching about 4Kids. They took it away and contracts have meant that the original VAs could not continue to voice the show without waiting a year to continue the dub. They didn't realise what the reaction to the new voices would be.

If that is what happened, then the decision makers aren't going to face the fandom if they can help it.
