Bulbapedia adopts new file format: Animated .pngs becoming standard for sprites

With the release of [[bp:pokémon Platinum Version|Pokémon Platinum]] and the expansion of the animation of sprites in the games, Bulbapedia has decided to utilize the new animation features of .png files to the fullest advantage.

Similar way Gif's work. I'm glad. gif files suck nowadays.
 
Do you need a new version of Photoshop/Imageready to do it?

I am intrigued by this.
 
I don't know if it's been implemented in many image editors, but there are several png animators available as Firefox extensions.

As the format becomes more readily available, though, it'll start appearing everywhere. I'm looking specifically at Flash, which can already output a series of pngs.
