What a Malamarvelous month it has been so far! As Editor-in-Chief, being able to defer all decision making to our Mega friend Malamar has been quite the relief. Its ultra-powerful mind was excellent for the encyclopedia work we take pride in at Mala....ahem, Bulbapedia. Consequently, Our Friend Malamar has returned to Lumiose City to rest its mind before the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the return of that pesky Hoopa. Before we exchanged our au revoirs, we’ve been requested to communicate all the improvements Mega Malamar made in the past week.
First off, Mega Malamar wants it to be easier than ever to keep tabs on discussions and have your thoughts heard. For those of you in our Discord community, you'll notice a new feature in our Bulbapedia channels: the various talk page edits on the wiki will now feed into a dedicated channel. ReMARkable! In our Help spaces, we've updated our instructional pages with modern practices for both the Bulbapedia:Spoilers and Help: Disambiguation pages. For the editors that work with fresh content, please check out these updated policies to stay informed on Bulbapedia's Best Practices.
Secondly, Mega Malamar wants everyone to have an easier time creating and browsing new pages dedicated to all of the new experiences we can enjoy under its powerful hypnosis. We’ve updated our “Help:Starting a new page” reference article, and introduced Special:CreatePage as an easier way to create new pages. We’re also introducing Previews across the encyclopedia! Simply hover over a link and a preview will appear with the opening blurb and image for the linked article. We hope this will make navigating the encyclopedia easier for our readers, but if it’s not helpful to you, this feature can be enabled or disabled via the user preferences.
Finally, Mega Malamar has been exhausted with us Pokémon Trainers not being able to properly prepare for Trainer battles. It has taken matters into its own tentacles, and we can now debut new party templates with enhanced information and mobile experience. Pull out your Rotom Phones and prep for battle, so that Mega Malamar can finally devote its full attention to attacking instead.
And, to our Magnificent Mega Malamar, we Malamaniacs are beyond excited for your spectacular debut on October 16. With Bulbasaur in our hearts and Malamar in our minds, we await your return.
