If you're not familiar with the 12 Days of Bulbagarden contest, please read this article before continuing.

In the Bulbasaur's Christmas Fanart Contest, judges (Bulbagarden staff members) will not base their decisions on art skills, but rather creativity. The three most creative entries expressing the theme of Bulbasaur's Christmas will win prizes.

Fanart entries should be in either .jpg or .png format and should be posted in this thread as an attachment or link.

Fanart must be created exclusively for these contests, and anyone caught plagiarizing (or tracing/copying poses) will be disqualified and banned from the forums for two weeks.

The last day to enter is Dec. 23. Judges will pick the winners on Dec. 25. We'll announce the prizes sometime soon.

Can we have Bulbasaur with another pokemon? Or is only Bulbasaur allowed?

So, a theme of Bulbasaur's Christmas? Aren't there more restrictions, like appropriate content, and having to include Bulbasaur?

My Contest Entry

Heres my entry, I hope you like it.

Thank You very much for the oppertunity to enter this contest ^_^

Yes, the fanart must include Bulbasaur, but you are free to include any other Pokémon or humans you want.

Hey, this sounds like my kind of contest! Coincidentally, I just recently drew a picture of Bulbasaur, so that would be good practice. I doubt I'd win, but if I did, I would have an extra Shadows of Almia game that I wouldn't need. Might as well give it a shot.

But, does the picture have to be drawn using something like Gimp or Paint, or can I hand-draw it and then take a digital photo of it? I'm only good at hand-drawing, so...

Here's my entry:

I rushed it a bit, and did it in about 3 hours. Not really pleased with how some things turned out, but that's what I get for rushing. xD

It looks nice, the flame has a good effect and Bulbasaur really looks similar to sugimori's work! I'd suggest more realistic lighting personally though. A fireplace does give a good amount of light, but it also makes dramatic shadows. ^^;
Oh, and don't you think Bulbasaur is... uhh... a little too close to that flame...? ^^;;;

Just as clarification: we're only allowed one entry per member, right?

Nice entries so far, I can't wait to start drawing mine ^_^

xD Yeah, I was thinking about how all of the Pokémon were Grass-Types, yet they're not worried about sitting near an open flame. By the time I'd noticed, it was halfway done, so I just kept going.

And to Miss Yoshi: Yes, I used a computer program to color it in.

The Pokémon Ranger game is part of the grand prize for the random drawing of people who posted in the forums on Christmas. We haven't announced the art contest prizes yet.

You can do either. However you want to interpret the theme and display it here.

Yes.

The gift of love is most important for Christmas. =D

I think this is disqualified for quite a few reasons. The image does not include Bulbasaur, it was made in 2002, and it looks like a stolen piece of fanart printed out, judging by the dark box around the Latias and Latios...

I hope this is acceptable!

In Japan, it's customary to celebrate Christmas with a special Christmas cake! They usually have white frosting and are decorated on top with whole strawberries.

Yum! But...

You posted it wrong. :0

OH!... I think there needs to be a LOT more clarification in the rules and with details like this. Rats, and I've gone though all this trouble for the past few hours with my lineart. :(
Is there any chance we can know BEFORE the deadline? Since, afterall, making fanfiction and fanart actually requires skill, and some people have better things to do with their skill (ie; commissions) then wait for the bait-and-switch to reveal its hand...
Not that I'm saying I get commissions. XD I'm just saying, the quality AND quantity of entries are going to be shorthanded by this.

And with clarification and 'bait-and-switch', posting the grand prize information first lures people in to think that would be the item they could get... that's what caused the confusion, though I do see *grand prize* now. And, the person in the random lottery for Christmas day wins the grand prize? But, doesn't the contest END on the 23rd?
---Oh, wait, fanart and fanfiction contest. Okay.
Wonderful. ._.

So I guess the lottery prizes everyday end on the 25th?

BESIDES the fact it doesn't involve the theme and was posted in an illegal way?

I'm sorry I'm making two posts for your one post. xD I didn't read this until just now.
Anyway, shouldn't this contest be about fun and friendly competition, other than hoping for a really good prize? Sure, some people may be lured into entering if they knew the prize, but that also seems selfish! Maybe I'm just being dumb. D:
And sorry if I misinterpreted you in any way, here, haha.
