Lost my Pearl version. I'd like to play again but I'm not sure if I should get another Pearl (or Diamond) or just wait for Platinum (which I'm getting either way). What do you guys think?

Yup. At a time like this maybe you could wait for platinum, just like Ino Pig said. It's a remake so it will have new additions. And, while you're waiting you have a small break and increase the "hunger" for pokemon games.

I would definitely wait for Platinum, I waited for Emerald for example and was not disappointed...

But won't it be a while until it comes out?(at least in the u.s. or europe...) Depends on if you want to wait it out or not.

Depends on:

-If you can wait that long to play Pokemon again
-If you want to play the exact same story, or one slightly modified

I haven't even been able to play through emerald again, so imaybe yous huould wait.

For the past 10 years I haven't been able to decide between the two games. I waited for Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and am currently waiting for Platinum while I'm still busy working on my older games.

When will Platinum come out in Europe, because if I know i'll decide?!
The release date for any place outside of Japan has yet to be announced:
Bulbapedia said:
N. America TBA
Australia TBA
Europe TBA
Korea TBA

I checked the difference between the releases in Japan and Europe for D/P and for Emerald. Diamond and Pearl were released in Japan on the 28 of September 2006 and were later released on the 27 of July 2007 in Europe, that's an approximate difference of ten months. For Emerald the difference between the Japanese release and the release in Europe was around thirteen months. The confirmed date for Platinum in Japan currently is September 13, 2008. So I assume the earliest judging by the release of the previous games of that Generation would be around July 2009 and latest around October 2009. I guess the release date for Europe will probably fall between those two months, but this is just a guess. As I stated above nothing has been confirmed at this moment in time.

I'm not so sure. I've got some Pokemon on my Diamond that I transfered, like 3rd Gen legendaries, and I don't want to go through a lot of mess to get those Pokemon into Platinum. But since I probably won't get a new DS, since my old one is broken, until Platinum arrives in the states, I might as well wait.

This may sound stupid, but I've never heard of Platinum version before. Explain?

well if you dont want to wait too long, import Platinum from Japan, the games are so easy that you dont need to read and there will always be guides on the internet to help you.

thats what im doing btw.

That is true.....if you played Pokemon before....especially D/P (of course you lost your Pearl), you should have no problem...the storyline is basically the same.

You should have spent at least two minutes punching the name into Bulbapedia's search engine to get the result. However its clear you didn't so I will briefly elaborate, Platinum is the third installment in the current Generation following Diamond and Pearl.

'I herd u lik swampert',thanks. I haven't been looking up Pokemon for a while, so it's natural that I didn't know.

I never claimed that was the case, but you could still have searched for it on bulbapedia, that is all I meant.

Thanks for all the opinions. I found my Pearl so this thread's no longer needed. ^_^
