Buying Ethers?

I think it'd be pretty nice to be able to buy Ethers, Elixirs, and all that, because on the long run, my Pokémon's PP run out, and since you're only able to find them at certain points in the game, that means there's limited Ethers and Elixirs. Sure, there's Leppa Berries, but I'm not going to cultivate Berries for three days just to get a few Berries that recover a lousy 5 PP.
Although I can't see why they'd make them unbuyable. Can someone answer that?

Ok first of all, this should be in the Video Games section.

And bout the Ethers/Elixers, well if we could buy them then it would be a little too easy. PP is one thing that is very important, and it would make it too easy to just give it to us. But it would be nice to buy them too either way.

That's because they're supposed to be rare items, but I really din't get why you can't buy them, I mean it doesn't look like something that's made nature.

As a side note, if Ethers were buyable in HG/SS, it'd automatically become the most perfectest game of all time, atrocious quadruple typo intended.

Since I think most people feel this way about all Pokémon games, and HGSS isn't mentioned in the title or opening post, moving to Games forum.

And yes, I've wondered myself many times over why Ethers aren't buyable. I settle for Leppa Berries, though.

Because they're dicks. This isn't the only thing they're dicks about.

Yeah, I would really like it if you could buy Ethers. It's annoying when you're in a long, drawn out battle on the verge of losing all your PP and you don't have any Ethers or Leppa Berries. That happened to me quite a bit while fighting the E4. :[

They could just make them a bit expensive, like 3000 or something, I dunno.

Well, you can always get them through the pick up ability.

Oh right, hadn't thought about that. It's really tedious having to take an item from the Pokémon after every battle, but it could work.
...
But there's still the issue of Ethers not being buyable. XP

I agree, especially if you want to use team of few Pokemon. I hate when you have a 5 PP move and you run really soon because you're on Victory Road or something. They are such rare items for no reason really. The should be easily attainable.

Use Covet or Thief on wild Clefairies. Chain them, you'll end up with lots of Leppa Berries, maybe some Moon Stones, and perhaps even a few shinies.

Dewgong's Rule of thumb for every single game:

-Every, EVERY Ether/Elixer/Max Ether/Max Elixer you obtain (which can be found conveniently located online) SAVE for the Elite 4.

Yeah, I really don't like how the PP-restoring items are very rare. It would be a little better if there was some weird method of obtaining them, like trading rare gems for them or completing tasks. But I wish that they would just sell the dang things already. I don't see why they can't...

Seriously? There's actually a thread complaining about this?

If you can't beat the E4 without PP-restoring items, grow Leppa Berries you lazy sods.

Honestly, the whole reason for PP is to put a limit on powerful moves. That is the reason you can't buy them; it would completely circumvent a game mechanic designed to make you choose your moves carefully and make you actually think.

I sometimes wonder if the earlier games had the leaders and E4 inject their pokemon with ethers since Lance had a Dragonite use Hyper Beam on me like 10 times. Ugh.

I don't want them purchasable (too easy and I'm not cheap like that) but making them obtainable through a weird but doable method works.

I know low PP is supposed to limit powerful moves, but that means that we'd have to use Ethers more often, leaving us helpless for a whole turn.
And I'm not complaining about it because of low PP moves, since the only ones I've got are Close Combat on both my Infernape and Staraptor (and I'm planning on teaching Infernape something else), but rather when you're using a Pokémon extensively and his/her PP run out, and you have to take potshots at the enemy.

Well, it's only in-game that you have multiple battles without healing in between.

And there are Pokémon Centres in-game.
