Considering how much info on the staff was for XY, SM and JN. Did BW have a producer/director switch, as the art style changes happen here. I am a fan of AG and DP but after Morita stepped down I thought the art in DP was sometimes off and that extends to BW.

Does anyone think highly of BW?

Who was the head writer and producer?

As far as director change goes: it was still Norihiko Sudo as the main director (who joined during the Advanced era and directed Diamond and Pearl) although this would be the last series before being replaced with Tetsuo Yajima for XY.

Atsuhiro Tomioka was the main head writer (also for Diamond and Pearl) and producers for Black and White were Shigehiro Tanaka (also producer for XY, Sun & Moon and Journeys), Takemoto Mori (from episodes 1 to 60) and Takurō Muratsubaki (from episodes 61 to 84).

Thank You, it's amazing how different DP was compared to BW despite having the same creative team but the artstyle change as well as the direction of the series, XY SM JN have there own creative teams and head writers, producers that make them distinct from each other. BW has most of the same crew from DP. It seems like the biggest change up since AD. Bringing back Ashs charzard into the lineup, Also being the first series to only have 3 years instead of 4. It had a lot to prove and XY ended up being the series that revitalized the anime. I do hear BW does improve. Opinions?

They stopped using Ken Sugimori old art style after DP but even DP had changes to it's art style, it looked more stylized, I think there digital paint is more noticeable. Why did the Norihiko Sudo leave and why did Atsuhiro Tomioka stop being head writer? Was the reception that bad? Also I notice Aya Matsui didn't write any episodes for BW but came back for XY?
