At this point, it really seems like they have too many Pokemon. I would love it if they returned to Kanto/Johto with a revamped storyline along the lines of Gen V. Gen V was the first game to have a real story, they should go back and create better stories for the older regions.

I don't think you could call it a new generation if no new Pokemon were introduced, and it uses an old region. What would be the point of that? It might as well just be called a "sequel" to that region's games like Black 2 and White 2 are.

Well, it'd be a new generation in that there would be different characters. I guess it would be more of a sequel. Either way, they should have done a "sequel" for the other generations before they did Gen V.

I'd be ok with Ruby and Sapphire remakes, but that is IT for returning to an old region. The main games should go somewhere new.

Now, I wouldn't mind they stop making new pokemon, I just don't think they have delivered in terms of cool looking Pokemon in general for 2 Gens now (not saying ALL of the Gen IV and V 'mons are bad, but I think it was about 10% in Gen III that I didn't like, and about 5 or so% in Gens I and II, but to me, 60% of the Gen IV and 80% of the Gen V Pokemon just don't look any good).

I mean, isn't 649 Pokemon enough? It's hard enough now to complete the Pokedex, and the way they are treating the older ones now, in a couple of Gens, it will be impossible to complete it.

I think what the OP means is there shouldnt really be a Gen 6 like the kind that Gens 1-5 have been, and only sequels/remakes should be made after Gen 5. I doubt that will happen and there will be a Gen 6 with a new region and new Pokemon, Id say new generations will be made for a long time, though it may eventually end and GF may focus on remakes or sequels.

I think Pokemon is the only franchise that can get away with remaking remakes, the remakes would stay true to the originals. Every generation is associated with a certain plot, certain region, certain characters, and certain Pokemon. I don't expect this to change. And since Pokemon games all follow the same basic formula, remakes of Red and Green could very well be made sometime down the road again. Some people would complain about the thought of this, but if it really happened, they'd still go buy it. Playing the very first Pokemon games in 3DS format would draw some attention.

I also think that new Pokemon will keep being introduced. Most people who complain about the newest Pokemon have strong attachments to the first 151 Pokemon, despite those being some of the most basic ideas. And as I've said before, there are far more than just 649 kinds of animals on this Earth. And since new fans are always appearing, there will always be a need for more new Pokemon.

As long as it makes them money there will never be "enough" Pokemon, or new games for that matter. There are also countless species of animals and living organisms in the world and many that are extinct, so there is a lot of inspiration as well as various mythology to work with.

What your asking for is remakes, and now I have honestly become tired of them and all the speculation on them. We have already returned to Kanto with a revamped storyline, its called G/S/C/HG/SS. Tired of Kanto and one of the best things about this generation is that Kanto is not in it.

I want something new, not the same old thing remade over and over again. There are other regions besides Japan they can focus on, and even then they can focus on some other region besides the ones we've already had.

I don't mean stop making new Pokemon all together, I mean giving it a rest for awhile. Taking years to come up with new ideas, things like that.

For the long time fans who watched pokemon on WB in America, there will never be enough Kanto! The games are starting to get old though.... an Anime series returning to Kanto would be nice though. Gen V was odd but, refreshing. New ideas are hard to come by though

They dont like leaving too much of a gap between generations and making new Pokemon but I see what you mean. I dont think Game Freak ever stops making new Pokemon, I think they get ideas all the time and keep them for future use and is constantly designing new characters I dont think they run out of ideas, theres a lot of inspiration to draw from, think of all the creatures that exist in the world.

Ever since Gen 3 we had remakes - besides, Gen 2 is connected to Gen 1, with Johto connected to Kanto, so why not have Hoenn in Gen 6?

What's "C" and "D" mean?
Anyway, what I'd love to see would be the Orange Islands. The one place we haven't been to yet, and the gym challenges could involve minigames as well as battling (like how in the anime there was target shooting and races and stuff). However, this'd deviate from the formula by quite a lot, as there'd only be 4 gyms instead of 8 (and no Elite Four). Which would also mean that it would be considerably shorter so they should add side quests and stuff.
But if they did the Orange Islands... we'd have some Kanto Pokémon and some Johto Pokémon, so it'd solve the problem about introducing a ton of new ones.

What's "C" and "D" mean?

C = Confirm

D = Deny

BTW: I would love to see a real Archipelago like the Orange Islands be the main region! Not necessarily the OI's, but at least one Archipelago that lets you surf between 30+ or so islands. I've always wondered what a region based off of the Philippines, Indonesia, or Oceania, etc. would be like. And, I would not want to have to use Ferries. (maybe optional ferries, but required until you get the badge for surf of course. The ferries couldn't just take you to any of the islands, though. You'd have to island-hop to go from one side of the region to the other.)

I don't think new pokemon will come for a while. First they should create remakes of R/S just like they did with S/G. I hope they don't make too many more pokemon, I mean seriously it is already incredibly hard to collect all the pokemon now. As a fan of the series I hope the series goes on, but By the time the next few versions come out it will be near impossible to complete the National Pokedex.

i agree that there should be a r/s remake but i want a new region soon but less new pokemon or it would be to hard to complete national dex

The National Pokédex is already hard to complete as it is so I don't see why making it a little hard would matter at all. Additionally, they've abandoned the slogan "Gotta Catch 'em All" so completeing the Pokédex isn't even an official objective anymore. If you're just doing it for the challenge then more Pokémon would make it better, as it'd be more challenging and more of an accomplishment when you do succeed.

Here's another idea... redo the Kanto region to correspond with the anime (which had several cities / areas that weren't included in the games at all, along with alternate gyms (i.e. Gary had 10 badges), along with a tournament at the end rather than the typical Elite Four and Champion). This may make revisiting Kanto interesting enough to not just be another remake.

Agreed. It's already a challenge, actually it's the most challenging part of the games! But if there is a definite number of Pokemon, once you "Catch 'em all", where would you go from there? More Pokemon = continued challenge. When you think about it, catching them all means more every time new Pokemon are introduced!

Nah, Kanto's fine as it is. They just gave Gary more badges as yet another way for him to tell Ash "Haha! I'm better than you!" I remember some trainers had badges even Gary didn't have, so that would make Kanto massive if they did that. Of course, they can always add a little extra, but if they were going to redesign the region all together, why not just come up with a completely new region? If it's a remake, they'll want to keep as much of the original content the same as possible.

Personally, I like the Elite 4 as a group of the best trainers in the region, with the Champion being THE best. The anime usually promotes them as ridiculously powerful and pretty much unbeatable. Naturally, if your goal is to be the best trainer, you'd have to beat the trainer currently known as the best. In the words of Ric Flair - "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!"

I honestly much rather go to a new region then go back to Kanto anytime soon, Id like to see new regions, not go back to old ones, Kanto should have a break for a generation or two.

As great as remakes are, I don't think their necessary for EVERY generation. I think Gen 5 can do without them, but I wouldn't mind seeing possible remakes in Gen 6 coming sometime in maybe 2014. That would be a long enough break I think.
