Currently I have cable internet and it's very good to my liking. The price is around $47 for 20mbps and the rival of my company, which is fiber optic, is giving away 20mbps for around $40 a month. So what I would like to know is which is faster, fiber optic or cable? And would it be worth it to switch?

Fiber optic is capable of faster speeds than cable internet but I don't see any difference between the two at 20 mbps other than price fiber optic being cheaper obviously. But this might be a plus, depending on the provider you might be able to get FTTH TV service as well over the same line but the price will be maybe double what the price for FTTH internet is. Also, check the speeds offered by cable and fiber to the home (FTTH) to see which one is highest if you need faster speeds before you make the decision.

Yeah, fiber optic is capable of faster speeds, is is higher quality cable, but 20mbps is 20mbps.
