Chapter one:
Calling, Part one
Viridian Technical University: Kanto
Pokemon scholars and Professors from across the world gather once a year at a chosen location to exchange knowledge, findings, and debate theories about the Pokemon world they live in.
A young Professor by the name of Lyman Willow had the floor he was seeking a grant for a research project.
It was a large room with many wooden chairs facing a small stage with a microphone. The walls of the room were decorated with many pictures of legendary Pokemon.
Sits were filled with the worlds most famous of Pokemon researchers, watching the stage expectantly.
Willows squinty green eyes were magnified by large, round black-framed glasses, his curly dark hair grew long, covering his ears and reaching the red scarf hanging around his shoulders.
He spoke loudly and enthusiastically into the microphone in font of him.
‘I have located the gene that causes the “Pokerus” virus in pokemon, it is located in the part of the brain that releases adrenaline-‘
The audience listened intently and exchanged looks of skepticism with each other, the exception was a local, but world renowned
pokemon researcher, Professor Samuel Oak, he was outraged, he had already opposed Professor Willow’s proposal in private discussion.
Professor Oak was getting on in years, the lines on his angered face showed this, as did his short white hair.
Willow continued-‘but that is not the reason I speak before you today, this is merely the beginning of my research.
I believe I can use the benefits of the “Pokerus” virus for humankind. I am close to finding a way to input the beneficial virus into a person.
The room exploded into loud discussion, of protest and skepticism.
Professor Willow spoke even louder.
‘The human body has so much potential, we use only a fraction of our brainpower everyday, imagine the benefits of the “Pokerus”
Oak stood up, and over the rowdy crowd spoke directly to Professor Willow.
‘Lyman, trying to mutate a virus is not only dangerous but unethical. The ramifications could be disastrous for the human body. Furthermore who would be your test subject no one in their right mind-‘
Willow cut him off.
‘Pokemon evolve around us everyday! It’s our turn.
The outrage and commotion of his claims caused Willow to step down.
Oak sighed and checked his watch, he was to be back at his own lab in Pallet Town very soon.
Making his way through the rows of seats of his colleagues, he exited the building.
Unbeknownst to Professor Samuel Oak, he was being watched very intently by a young pretty girl, with short green hair wearing a long, bright green dress.
Lower Eastside Viridian City: Drowned Mankey Bar
Drowning his sorrows, Professor Willow was downing multiple drinks.
‘How could they just dismiss my theories like that? Do they even understand what my findings could mean?’ He was asking a random person in the bar, who was looking awkwardly around the room.
A broad shouldered shadowy man approached Willow, and quietly whispered in his ear.
‘My company is very interested in your findings, Professor”.
