Can you Catch #252-493 in the Wild?

Other than new babies or new evolutions of original Gen 1&2 Pokemon, how many Gen III -> Present are available in the wild? My concern is that I don't want to be going through this game and encountering all these new Pokemon, I want the experience to be as close to G/S. I know you can only find them after you get the national dex, but then are they common? How does it work?

Here are some, but you need to activate the sound first anyway, and there are some in the new Safari Zone, but you don't have to go there.

No, I just looked at where the first Pokemon of Generation III started and where the last one of Gen. IV was.

I guess the question should be, what Pokemon from 252-479 can you catch in the wild under normal circumstances, no radio, no safari zone, etc.
