Usually there's supposed to be one way to view a Pokemon sprite; the correct way. But sometimes our brains decide to focus on a specific detail or interpret the sprite the complete wrong way. The results can be hilarious, embarrassing or downright creepy.
Take this seemingly innocuous Tentacool sprite from HGSS for example
For no reason at all, my brain decided to see the black shading under the body as a huge smiling mouth, with the tentacles coming out of it and the "beak" forming a convenient nose. Now every time I run into one of the many, many Tentacool in that game I can't hold back a laugh at what appears (to me) to be a mash-up between a jellyfish and the Sesame Street Count.
Do you unconsciously look at a Pokemon sprite or design the wrong way, even if you know what it's meant to look like? Or been confused as to what a Pokemon was meant to look like at first? Do certain parts of a Pokemon's sprite remind you of anything?
