Usually there's supposed to be one way to view a Pokemon sprite; the correct way. But sometimes our brains decide to focus on a specific detail or interpret the sprite the complete wrong way. The results can be hilarious, embarrassing or downright creepy.
Take this seemingly innocuous Tentacool sprite from HGSS for example

For no reason at all, my brain decided to see the black shading under the body as a huge smiling mouth, with the tentacles coming out of it and the "beak" forming a convenient nose. Now every time I run into one of the many, many Tentacool in that game I can't hold back a laugh at what appears (to me) to be a mash-up between a jellyfish and the Sesame Street Count.

Do you unconsciously look at a Pokemon sprite or design the wrong way, even if you know what it's meant to look like? Or been confused as to what a Pokemon was meant to look like at first? Do certain parts of a Pokemon's sprite remind you of anything?

See those green things? I originally thought they were fangs, with the two black lines being closed eyes, with the third one of top being just a design.

But they were eyes, and the pattern being just a pattern...

The same thing applied to it's evolution.

I always thought that red circle on Munna's face was its mouth and what is actually is its mouth was just part of its body structure. Munna's actual mouth creeps me out when it opens. Same goes for Musharna. I thought that thing spewing smoke was its mouth. I had no idea it had a trunk or could open its eyes, but now that I look at (and literally just now) I see the trunk.

The way that Musharna's mouth and eyes look, I would prefer it to keep them closed :[

Surprised that no one talked about Ambipom's nipple tails. they seriously freak me out.

I remember when Ambipom was first revealed and thinking that it's evolution from Aipom would somehow involve Miltank. There was just no other explaination for those udderly ridiculous tails.

To this day I still see the red dots on Armaldo's nose as it's eyes.

It looks a lot more badass that way :p

Whenever I look at Metapod I think it's little back spike is it's nose and that's it's being viewed from behind..

First look at this image.

Now look back at the first image.

You will never see Hitmonchan the same way again >=D.

I realised this for the first time last week.
Also, for some reason I thought that Mienshao's head turned the other way.
