I seriously need help! I cannot beat the gym on platinum, here are my pokemon:

Prinplup level 28 (Holding X Defense)
Bubblebeam
Peck
Bubble
Fury Attack

Machop's all level 14 and 13 (X4)
Leer
Focus Energy
Low Kick
Karate chop

X Defense cannot be held. It's a manmade item, and you're supposed to use it from your bag in Battle.

Gardenia's a Grass user, so Water-typs are a big disadvantange. Your Prinplup should try to use Peck as much as it can. The battle with Gardenia would be a whole lot easier if you have a Flying type like Starly (Staravia.)

As for Machop, try raising its level some more so that it can withstand the attacks.

Well try raising the machop's level's

And maby switch one of the machops out with another type of pokemon, a flying pokemon maby, ya need one late on the game anyway.. *Need a pokemon with fly* xP

Umm...get a Starly and grind to like level 20 then just destroy the gym.

I only had a Prinplup and a Roselia at Gardenia's gym and I had no trouble beating her...

I saw a thread exactly like this on PokéCommunity...

Shouldn't Peck be able to do the job? Or just raise a Starly.

Thats me! :D.

And peck is not helping at all. I cant find a starly. Where do I find any Fire/Bird pokemon?

I have prinplup level 29.
1 level 13 machop
2 level 14 machop
1 level 15 machop
and a level 16 (almost 17) bronzor.

Look in your pokedex, starly are all near the first gym. If i remember correctly.

The only fire birds are Ho-oh and Moltres, neither available.

Peck is super effective. It should help.

And Starly are everywhere, especially on the early routes. Did you try checking your pokedex?

It says Fire/Bird, which I think means Fire or Birds.
Poyta is available at Route 206
Starly is available at Route 201

May I ask why you're going with three Machops? Just wonderin'.

Oh... well the OP was using the format for multiple types.

But yeah, Starly and Ponyta are available like said.

Plus tomorrow depending on the time on your game card, you can catch a Drifloon at the Valley Windworks, which will help with some gyms in the afterwords.

What citys are they at?

I keep making it to roserade, but I keep getting seeded. Any one want to trade me a fire or bird pokemon?

@the zorua, I am going with 4 machops lolz!!!

If you're not going to take every post into account at least or do some research yourself it looks like you're just trying to troll. People have said Starly are in almost every route near the first gym...how hard is it to comprehend that?

What citys are they at?

Starly are found on pretty much every route between Twinleaf town and Floaroma City, including Lake Verity. They are a common type so you should get a few to pop up within 5-6 random encounters in grassy areas on those routes.

OK. Thank you. Mods can close this thread now.

How about holding a berry (Sitrus? or Oran?) or Buneary/Chingling/Gastly (all found around Eterna City)or trade in somebody's high level pokemon---battle!---then trade back...
