DP017:
JPN: Ancient Pokémon Rampage!
Dub: Wild In The Streets!
Airs: Monday, July 2

Team Rocket set their fossil scheme, that they were developing during Paul and Ash's Gym matches, into action - the result is an Aerodactyl that goes on a rampage.

DP018:
JPN: Return to Kurogane (Oreburgh) Gym! Decisive Match with Rampard!!(Rampardos)
Dub: O'er The Rampardos We Watched!
Airs: Tuesday, July 3

Ash has his rematch with Roark but now he has the evolved Rampardos to deal with as well as Geodude and Onix.

-No episode on July 4th-

DP019:
JPN: I'll Get Pachirisu……Is That Okay!?
Dub: Twice Smitten, Once Shy!
Airs: Thursday, July 5

Dawn catches a Pachirisu but it turns out to be too mischievous to handle. Dawn releases it but by the time she starts to doubt her decision, Jessie has already taken an interest in the electric Pokémon.

I'm guessing Rampardos and Pachirisu will keep their voices.

There's no reason Gureggru couldn't have kept its Japanese voice, but it got changed anyway. So who knows?

Well, Greggle did occasionally yell "GURE!" when he battled.

Rampardos basically growled "RAMPRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" in an awesome voice, so I'll be dissapointed if they change it.

And Pachirisu...well, they have to keep the Pikachu Tradition of same-name-same-voice up.

Perhaps. But then again, Glameow clearly shouts out ‘Nyaruma!’ when it's landing a particularly strong blow, and they left an Abra saying 'Casey!' during early battle frontier :p
And they dubbed over Drew's Roselia (and Nando's), despite the fact that 4Kids never did anything to it.

...y'know, I'd really like to know how they go about deciding which pokémon can keep their original voices, and which ones can't.

Michael Haigney and Norman Grossfeld said on one of the movie commentaries that Pokemon that keep their Japanese name or that just roar usually keep their Japanese voices. Obviously, that didn't remain true for Pokemon like Absol and Pelipper. This could be linked to the fact that Haigney stopped being the voice director around the time all those Pokemon got dubbed voices when they didn't need to, but who knows. PUSA/TAJ I'm not sure about, though.

Okay, so tonight's episode is called "Wild in the Streets"....

That's an odd title. If it's really a pun, then I have no idea what it means. O.O

Anyway, the episode looks pretty good from the preview (they showed the preview a few times during the Pokemon marathon). ^^

Oh, and by the way, could the title "O'er The Rampardos We Watched" be based off that line from, The Star Spangled Banner?

If so, then it's possible Pokemon USA named the episode like that on purpose, in celebration for the 4th of July. Heh, that's cool.

But how did they know CN would air that episode *near* the 4th? Or maybe they didn't know that. It could be just some weird coincidence or something. O_O

This isn't the first time we've had dub coincidences. Remember the movie Camerupt episode aired the day a movie premered in Japan? And how Dues and Don'ts, with the football intro, aired the day before the Super Bowl?

"As we all remember..." Oh Brock, you exist for exposition, don't you?

Marian sounded like she was at gunpoint during her presentation. Needlessly nervous about something.

Is that movie music played during the part where the scientists discover that the machine's been stolen?

I'm pretty sure Meowth said "It's a fossil coup", but it captioned it as "It's a fossil cool"

Were James' cards edited? They have generic blue backs now.

Roark sounds too...delibrate in parts. Not very natural.

And did he just talk about real-world "Darwinian" evolution? Of course he didn't say it in as many words, but that line about "changing over millions of years"...

Sweatervest kid sounds kinda like Yugi, which is disturbing.

When Aerodactyl blows up the wall, the scientists and Jenny have the most unconvincing scream I've ever heard.

Meh... to be honest, I thought Sarah's voice acting wasn't all that good at all, much worse in comparison to the last couple weeks. So... cause of that, I really didn't watch much of the ep after the first 5 minutes >>

So voices really DO affect a show...

Eh... that's really all I have to say... the Dr. Yung guy was back though, mispronouncing Pokemon >>

Who knows? But it's still my favorite one yet...aside from "Gettin' Twiggy With It!"

Anyway...

"WHERE'S ARMALDO?!" Hah! I'm so glad I got to see Armaldo again. It's one of my favorites AND it's kept its voice from the 4Kids thing too!

BOINK! Jessie got pegged by her own poké ball! Hah! That's always funny.

And Giga Impact is all kinds of cool. I actually thought it was Sky Attack when Aerodactyl started it up.

Piplup and Buneary's moves rocked (no pun intended)!

And OMG! Rampardos is even MORE kinds of cool! I can't wait til the next one.

I wanna watch it again, if only to see that weird expression on Ash's face when Roark is talking about how beautiful fossils are.

*I actually thought Sarah was quite good today, especially with Ash's little speech at the start.
*Croagunk's case is the same as Psyduck's and Corphish's, where the Pokemon basically just makes noise in Japanese, but says its name in English. (IMO, I always liked Psyduck's and Corphish's voices, having not heard the originals, and Croagunk's works decently for me, too).
*You think Absol got it rough? Say hi to Eevee, who used its original voice UNTIL Taj took over, like Roselia apparently. (Except that in the movies, Kayzie Rogers also voiced Eevee during those Pokemon running herd montages.)
*You SURE Roselia kept its voice all throughout 4Kids dub? It seemed like it said its name too completely, as many dubbed Pokemon do, in at least some later episodes, but I didn't watch too closely, so some pointed confirmation would be most appreciated.
*Really, Taj is pretty unpredictable on that part. They'll keep some Pokemon as-is, whether using original sounds, archived clips, or new voices. Some Pokemon they'll let keep they voices when 4Kids wouldn't (Forretress, Aerodactyl, short cameos like Claydol, Castform, Surskit, etc.), and some they'll change when 4Kids didn't (Eevee, Roselia I suppose, getting rid of Seviper's trilling). In any case, they let Rampardos keep its voice, and I'm sure they'll do the same for Pachirisu and Buizel, or I won't know what to think...
*Finally, for those who didn't get the memo, Emily Jenness (or Emily Bauer) is officially credited as Dawn.

I couldn't watch this episiode without remembering an earlier fossil pokemon episode, and wondering when Gary and his pimpmobile were going to drop in.

I thought Sarah did a pretty good job today. And yup, Dr. Yung's clone was back again. That guy needs to learn how to say Pokémon correctly.

Oh, and by the way, could the title "O'er The Rampardos We Watched" be based off that line from, The Star Spangled Banner?

Yes, that's exactly it. I know this because I predicted the title a week in advance :)

Strange, I thought he had said it correctly when he was Harley and Nando (Billy Regan, that's who the guy is).

Strange, I thought he had said it correctly when he was Harley and Nando (Billy Regan, that's who the guy is).

Nope, Harley mispronounced it too. (I suspected he was the Yung actor)

I don't remember if Nando did, however.

I don't remember if Nando did, however.
20 seconds in, he says "And I am the Pokuhmon bard, Nando."

How could they?! They got rid of the Rt. 210 theme! At least they kept "Latios no Moto e!", but why did they feel the need to take out, as far as I remember, the only time they play the full version of the Rt. 210 theme?

Sorry guys, if there's any CORRECT pronounciation. this is the one. Closest to Japanese.

Ahh, this episode wasn't all that great. I mean, I loved the fact that they were building it up for two episodes . . was that the first time we've seen a Rocketto-Dan plan built up for that many episodes?

I didn't like the plot either . . it seemed really, well unbelievable. All the escaped pokémon just happened to go to where Satoshi, Takeshi and Hyouta were? I mean, maybe if they ran and found the pokémon I would've liked it better. And another thing I didn't like was I felt like there was no intensity in it. I think that there should've been a battle (or was there one with Ptera . . ?) and I think that they should've had Rocketto-Dan more intimidating then just "we stole this machine! Haha!" . .

And another dissapointing thing was the bgm. It was only either six or seven, I don't remember my count, but I'm thinking seven. They went down from eleven on Thursday's to seven . . hmm, but at least that's better than the normal four?

One thing that confuses me in this episode.. when the fossil pokemon, whatever its name was, is finished being rebirthed, Meowth's comment is captioned as a fossil cool. It didn't really match the scene..

On the other hands, I thought that was pretty cool that Dawn stopped the ancient pokemon with her contest moves. ^^
