She was probably my favorite recurring minor character. Honestly, I'm not sure why. I guess it would be because I like peppy, hyperactive girls. That plus her natural cuteness just made me so happy any time she showed up.
Certainly brightened up the tedious Johto Saga IMO.

Also, if anyone is interested, I collected all her singing segments into one video.

Anyway, enough of my gushing. What did the other posters here think of her character?

She's funny and I liked her, too bad the writers didn't do much with her and that she wasn't a real rival... she really shold've been there in the Johto League... I'll never understand why they chose to throw her away for no reason
The main reason I liked her was her Hebrew VA but other than that I liked her personality too
Sadly we'll probably never see her again... Electivire could be a nice excuse but that was covered by Gary and we have Paul too so yeah... it won't happen

I wouldn't have exactly called her a breath of fresh air, but at least she wasn't a Ritchie. I enjoyed the episodes she appeared in (including chronicles). She had nice character development and the hyperactivity just made it interesting.

I always thought she should have been in the Johto league. She did start off as a second rival to Ash but then she fizzled out toward the end.

I don't really get why Casey couldn't have been a real rival in the league instead of what they did with her. This is why people wrongly say Ash had no female rival, simply because they completely forget about her.

Ah well. I don't think she'll be seen again though.

I too wish she had been in the Johto League. It not only makes sense, it's fairly simple and why the writers didn't do it boggles the mind.

But I really did consider her a breath of fresh air in Johto... It just went on and on and on but any episode she popped up, I woke up and my ability to slog thorugh it all was renewed. Which I'm grateful for as there were some really good moment sIn Johto.

I really liked Casey. It would've been really cool if she had been in the Johto League, even if she were to get eliminated early. I mean, why introduce such an adorable, quirky and energetic character and not use her properly? Oh, right, Johto Syndrome. *shrugs* Ah well. At least she had her Hosos. Those were really fun.

I found her intensely annoying. She spoke nothing but stupid baseball metaphors for a sport that has nothing to do with baseball (Beyond throwing round objects, and even then it doesn't often matter in which direction).

As to character development, I must have missed it. She threw the usual new trainer tantrum and started to become a reasonable trainer. I think that's about it

I liked her... as for the baseball metaphors, that part of her character was a parody of the fans of the Hansin Tigers, so that joke or quirk to her character is gonna get lost on you if you're not Japanese (like me when I was 12 watching those episodes... I only got the whole baseball is huge in Japan thing when I witnessed it first hand while travelling to Japan) The cheering song, the zealous natur of the fanbase... It's really a throwback to a real-life phenomenon.

The reason she wasn't a real rival to Ash ( I think ) was that Ash already had travelled two seasons and still had his older pokemon when he entered Johto, so (as Casey's debut episode demonstrated) Ash was a much more experienced trainer than her... That rivalry would have been lopsided for a lot of Johto. If you compare with Paul (long stretch but bear with me), he has travelled the same amount of regions as Ash and competed in their respective leagues...

Couple good Casey points : her Chikorita wasn't annoying, the character hersef was good (good enough that when you see her you're not mad she's there, but not great that when she isn't there you miss her)

Couple bad Casey points : Ash is supposed to be a better trainer, yet she's the one with the Meganium (albeit, that's a bad point of Ash), the baseball references (while amusing) were really lost on almost all none Japanese audience, so it did feel a little weird.

Don't forget Ash gave her a Beedrill, which actually shows up again in the last special she was in. :)

I liked her,I have the feeling she will re-appear soon...Doing some rant about why they are now called the electivire-team,and just for that are POWER´D UP and are the best team for the Championship, but keep losing anyway.

The baseball stuff was funny and she was an interesting trainer(I cant remember most of her team through haha).

I like Casey and her obsession with baseball. She's a fun character

Yeah, I hear they love baseball! It is something some Americans share with them and could definitely relate to her obsession. :-)

Hmm... Casey was a really good character (of the day).

It'd be good if she made another appearance.

I was hoping Casey was going to beat the crap out of ash and take over the show with a IRON BAT!

I never saw Casey as a secondary rival to Ash. She was still a rookie trainer compared to Ash. Even with her Meganium, I couldn't really see her as an actual challenge to Ash due to their difference at skill during the time. The fact that she had only four badges by the time Ash was on his way to the Silver Conference says a lot about their difference strength as trainers and how the writers didn't want to use her as a female rival. I don't think that people are wrong when they say Ash had no female rival. She never really came off like that to me. If she had appeared more often, made it to the Johto League and battled Ash, then I would see her more like Ash's only female rival.

Besides that, there are plenty of people who remember her, despite her few appearances.

Though, I agree that she should have been in the Johto League. She was an interesting character. I didn't really like her, but I didn't dislike her either. It was refreshing to see that a girl trainer going for Gym battles for a change.

Casey needs to make more appearances if the anime does a filler arc in Johto. Perhaps she could have competed in the Silver Conference and done pretty well. She likely has that Electabuzz by now.

She was a good dose of comic relief - her Electabuzz chants were priceless. So were the reactions. But she deserved a lot more than three appearances and needed more Pokemon. She could probably beat Ash by now, since Ash hasn't shown much growth as a trainer. Ash pretty much hasn't since he met Casey...

I found her intensely annoying.
And we were doing so well with not bashing Casey in this thread until this post! :P

But yeah, I just adore Casey. <3 She's just hyperactive and energetic enough to be fun without being annoying... well, so I think, anyway. It sure would be nice to see what she's been up to lately.

looked at something called "Friend Facts" on Facebook... according to some anonymous FB friends, I don't have an inviting smile, am embarassing to be around, am not fashionable, and am afraid of spiders. o.O Gee, thanks. Really boosts my confidence there.
IIRC, that's also the one and only time when Ash gave away or released a Pokémon not for its own benefit, but for the happiness of the person he was giving it to. Which is just plain adorable. :3

Oh, and ha, did it strike anyone else as funny that her Chikorita evolved before Ash's did and made it to Meganium, which Ash's Bayleef never managed? Not to say that one is superior to the other, but still.

i liked casey, she was funny, maybe she should have appeared in the johto league, but it was her first reigon so maybe the rivalry with ash wouldnt have worked so well. Anyway hope we get to see her again, maybe if they do another chronicles or maybe even in the anime, even though its unlikely.

Ah, but I was asked my opinions, my American friend. Besides, I can give reasons for them ;)

This is kind of my point. A parody character of the day, fair enough, but when she turned up again in later episodes, still spouting three sentances of baseball gibberish before she got round to actually ordering a move, I think this was a case of the joke being pushed too far. This is mostly what I find annoying about Casey

I have a soft spot for Casey, even if her talking about baseball all the time got a little out of hand. Any girl going after Gym Badges is good in my book. Shame she didn't really go anywhere as a character.

On a different tangent, I'd really like for Ash to get a reoccuring female rival. Or for the Gen 5 rival to be a girl. There's no rule saying all main rivals have to be guys, right?

lawl Either way it'll turn into some kind of shipping...
