Okay, I've noticed that a few threads concerning pokemon adoption have cropped up recently.

So, let's discuss our feelings on Pokemon. Do you release one you don't need? Keep them forever in a box? What do you consider proper etiquette when it comes to how you treat your pokemon?

Also, remember that ALL things concerning adoption need to be done in the trading thread, per Shuko's instructions.

To make things easily searchable, put 'Adoption' in the title of your posts there.

the only pokemon i release are the pokemon that I catch when I'm transfering Jirachis. I usually just catch some Zigzagoons and Poochyena. i release those or else my PC would be full by now ^^;

My box is filling with shinies. *_* I may have to start releasing some of my hard-won trade pokemon soon. T_T

I guess I'll kiss my every-other-daily PP Ups from the lottery good bye, lol.

lol, that's how I feel! I've played so many different Pokemon games and restarted some of them, that I have Trainer IDs from ALL over the board ^_^

It's nice having the Space Center Deoxys, those zeroes are hard to come by for me (for whatever reason, is beyond me).

They need a Pokemon box D/P for the Wii now. I'm not running out of room yet, but when I start IV breeding, I will have to start releasing them soon. I've calculated the amount of dittos I need, I even removed the neutral natures, the -Spd, and the +def-Sdef (and vice versa) stat, but that's still a lot of ditto (assuming I do what the guide on smogon says)

That's my problem. My boxes are filling up fast and i have nowhere to put my extra pokemon. They should've made more boxes >.< I'm going to have to start releasing things I don't want or have more than one of.

I don’t like to release my pokemon but unfortunately the boxes in game are too small for my needs. I like to breed egg moves using pairs of the same pokemon but with the limited space I only have room for a few breeding pairs. If they don’t come out with a D/P box soon I will have to release more pokemon. Thankfully I have wi fi so I can at least put up a few on the GTS I usually ask for starly then release them after I have drawn my lotto ticket. That way maybe some one else can enjoy them.

Anyway, I do release lameos I dont need. Just got rid of a bunch of unowns after I got seals. Missing Y though.

Interesting so far. Anyone have anything to say about the recent adoption ideas floating around BMGF? I really like it, I'm trying to organize something along those lines. I have a few, I know others have Pokemon they'd like to pass along.

I have a ton of Pokemon that need adopted. I just can't release them, because I don't have the heart to. Pokemon like Ben (Blue Shellos) need a chance to really shine, but he will never get that chance if released. I just don't have a bond with some of them (I usually get a bond after a few years, yep the Pokemon on my team are atleast a few years old, except Melody.) And, I know I don't have the time to get a bond between Ben or some of the others (meaning I don't have two years just to bond with a Shellos.)

I'll only release it if it's something like a Bidoof I got just to trade the adopted Pokemon.

Its getting pretty cramped in my PC. I dont like to release them but I'm quickly losing space.

I usually keep things as long as there is space in the appropriate box, or I can find another appropriate box. The things that get released first are the things that I can normally catch in grass and haven't trained, but only if I've got the whole family in my 'dex already (I've been putting off filling it up with evolved forms, no free time right now)

I also have a box that I put spares of things in. If I have something that takes some effort or chance to get, I sometimes try to get two of them, and put one away for trades. Spares get released as I need space.

I have a whole box of Spiritomb (from breeding) and Feebas (from fishing). I should probably reclaim those boxes soon. I think I'll keep my alphabet box with all 28 Unown, though.

I have a box dedicated to legendaries, but I might need another one soon. -_-

When I do mass breeding on occasion, I release many of the Pokemon I would not use (Unfortunately, I need as much space in my boxes as possible), but I also trade some of them to friends.

I love the adoption center idea as well, and would love to involve myself. ^_^

Really, though, I'm all about trading. I'll make totally irrational trades for the sake of it, sometimes. (And, on occasion, a dex entry. :P )

I simply give away what pokemon I wont use on various trading cha t rooms, boards etc...

I buy another game and transfer the extras to there. Which I really need to do right now, I'm running out of room because of my Jolteon army.

Lol, this reminds me that it's like they are tying to make competitive battlers feel guilty with Paul. Lol! Though I never really catch enough pokemon to where it's much of a problem for me, even though I try to catch herds sometimes...

I kinda (well, not kinda) wish the next game they make the boxes like Zoos and Digimon farms where you can manage you pokemon to raise their happiness levels in a box, or increase effort stats (or something) while you are out. (Like budging money for food and water, and decorating the box with habitat parts like plants, ponds, and toys)... Then being a physical place you could go to to walk through and see your pokemon roam around.

Without a new version of Pokemon Box, I've actually at one point filled up almost all my boxes. I noticed I only had like 2 left and started releasing anything I felt was unnecessary. I kept at least 1 or 2 of each species I had but mostly threw out anything I felt wasn't worth keeping. Smeargle covers a lot of breeding thankfully and so I generally don't need to keep much.

Well, I have both Diamond and Pearl, and two DS Lites... so, in theory, I have twice as much storage space as those with only one version of the game.

When one considers breeding and the sheer quantity of individual Pokes available in the game now (49[3] different ones), there really needs to be more storage space on the PC. There's really not quite enough room there for serious metagame players to store everything they might need (shinies, multiple genders for breeding, one of each species and evolution, etc.)

I also think the box system itself could use an overhaul. It takes me a long time to move all the critters in one box to another box, and it takes FOREVER to rearrange all the boxes, especially if you're trying to organize them categorically.

And bring back the Item PC, please, Game Freak! It takes me forever to sort through my Item pocket in D/P. XD

Did you know that if you press the Y button, it changes the color of the hand icon, and if you hold A over a Pokemon and then press the D-Pad in the direction of your other Pokemon, you can select more than one Pokemon? You could select a whole box of Pokemon if you wanted. xD

Did you know that you can use the touchscreen to scroll more quickly through your items? :p Just rotate your stylus on the pokeball, spinning it around. One direction scrolls up, and one direction scrolls down.

Are you serious? I had been wondering if there was something like that! And you know what sucks? I'm one of the few people who actual read the game manual... apparently, I missed that part. :dodgy:

That I did know, but using the slider still isn't much faster than using the D-pad.

I found a trick, though: If you press Select as though you're going to change the item order, the scroll speed doubles. So, to get from the top of the list to the bottom, I press Select to rearrange, then cancel when I'm done scrolling.
