Catch returning First Partner Pokémon with the Mightiest Mark in 7-star Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starting this Friday January 9

  • Staff
Special Tera Raid Battles featuring First Partner Pokémon from various generations will be returning to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet over the coming months. Each Pokémon will be available in raids for one week, with the next raid event in the sequence starting immediately afterwards. The first returning Pokémon is a Ground Tera-type Venusaur, which will be making its appearance in this event from Friday January 9th at midnight (UTC) / Thursday January 8th at 4:00pm (PST), until Thursday January 15th at 11:59pm (UTC) / 3:59pm (PST).

This Venusaur will have the same mark, Ability, and moves as when it originally appeared in Tera Raid Battles between February 28th and March 5th, 2024. Mighty Venusaur can only be caught once per save data, and players who previously caught it during the initial run will not be able to catch it again during this re-run. Mighty Venusaur may appear again in other events, or be encountered in different ways in the future.

To encounter these Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles, players will need to download the latest Poké Portal News. If players have connected their Nintendo Switch system to the internet while playing Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, this will happen automatically. Players can also manually download the Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, and then selecting Mystery Gift, and then Check Poké Portal News. After that, players who have completed certain post-game events will be able to start the 7★l Tera Raid Battle simply by walking up to and interacting with the Black Tera Crystal in-game. Players who haven't yet completed the required post-game events can still participate in these Black Tera Raid Battles, but only by joining with other Trainers in multiplayer, such as by using a Link Code. A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online.

In the overworld, these Tera Raids can be differentiated from other Tera Raid crystals when looking at at the map by their special aura, and their black sheen.
