Pokémon has had a long competitive history, something that the brand likes to reference and showcase; interstitials of streams, feature clips, and commentary, as well as the brief Pokémon Championships History series on YouTube. The aforementioned videos are shortform clips, but a new production aims to fill the space of longform competitive Pokémon video analysis. Champion Chat, a Twitch streaming series with same day archival uploads to the Play! Pokémon YouTube channel, has the competitors of famous tournament matches discuss the battles they competed in. The first episode will air on the Pokémon Twitch channel on December 17, 2025 at 10:00 pm (UTC).
The first episode of Champion Chat is slated to go over two matches from the 2025 Pokémon World Championships The first is the VGC Masters Finals with competitors James Evans and Giovanni Cischke, as well as caster Evan Latt. The match had each trainer pilot a different version of a Koraidon sun team. Giovanni's team featuring Koraidon and Lunala won, making Giovanni Cischke the VGC Masters World Champion. The second match is Isaiah Bradner's and Riley McKay's match in the second Swiss round of TCG Masters, with the two of them joined by caster Chip Richey. Both players used Gardevoir ex decks, with Isaiah using a variant that includes Jellicent ex. The match ended with a tie, and Riley McKay would later become the TCG Masters World Champion.
