Well, in case you're unaware, the long-ago announced Champions book (characters first revealed in Civil War #6. Hephaestus, that other Hercules, Artemis, Hermes, etc.) has been changed to the Order for legal reasons (someone else owns the rights to a comic called Champions. Apparently someone also owns the rights to Olympians, so...instead of going for strike three, they opted to go with something they knew they could get to work, namely the Order, formerly the name of a magically-controlled Defenders). And, now, we get our first look at the cast. But....apparently...we won't get the Greek God motif anymore.

Character sketches and names. I like Barry Kitson's work. But Matt Fraction (the writer) is...just...no. It's like he learned to write from a "How-To" book. Or is using Mad Libs. Or both. For an example, the names of the Order:

Mulholland (placeholder name was Urbane)
Anthem (the leader)
Aralune (I...fail to get...any sort of reference)
Calamity (isn't that one of the new New Warriors?)
Majestic (looks like a non-steroid version of DC's Mr. Majestic)
Veda (she makes golems. And is a whore)
Supernaut (he fills the "mecha" quota...and the horrible name quota)

I...just...hate myself, because I'm giving it a shot based solely on the fact that it's a team book.

*yawns* Seems like this is going to be Marvel's new "Slingers".

A ripoff of a popular idea from a popular book that utilizes a random Golden Age character and bombs horribly because the leads are all stereotypical teenagers?
