Out of the 646 officially revealed Pokémon, are there any of them that you've had a certain opinion on, which has appeared changed later on?

Like a lot of people always complain about new designs, new concepts and such, and I'm no exception, but as time has passed, a lot of Pokémon that I didn't like to start with, has become some of my most favored Pokémon.

So have you ever experienced this? Why didn't you like it/them at first? Why do you like it/them now? And so on~

Let me go ahead and state for the record something that will probably shock everyone:

I was not a fan of Golett. At least, not at first.

I know, I know. "Who are you and what have you done with Silverwynde?" But it's true. I actually preferred Golurk over Golett. Golurk is a huge, awesome looking robot while Golett... Well, when I first saw it, I thought Golett was rather silly. Yes, I wanted to get one but I wanted to evolve it as soon as possible. It was a stepping stone to something bigger and better. What changed my mind? GPX+.

I managed to grab and hatch a Golett (then known as Gobitto since we didn't know the English names for Gen V) egg in January of last year. The moment it hatched and I looked into those eyes, I went from indifference to love. I hadn't actually looked at Golett; I'd been so busy letting Golurk overshadow everything that I hadn't noticed Golett's cuddly cuteness. Once I started playing Black and actually caught a few, I went from love to adoration. The little guy was amazingly helpful and I have to admit that I felt a little twinge of guilt when I let Riser evolve. Ever since then, I've loved Golett and the little fella's one of my absolute favorite Pokemon.

I'll also admit that I didn't like Sawk at all. I hated the way it looked and swore I wasn't going to have one on my team. Then I needed a Fighting type for Lenora's gym, so I hit Pinwheel Forest. I caught a Timburr and just for good measure, I tried to catch a wild Sawk for back-up.

He fought me. That blasted Sawk fought me every step of the way. But when I finally caught him and began training him, I found his strength impressive. The battle with Lenora only took me a few minutes and my Sawk was under-leveled. But he was powerful enough to stand up to almost anything in his way. He's saved my tail quite a few times; I've gone from hating him to liking him to eventually loving him. Now Sawk's one of my favorite Pokemon and I had nothing but indifference to pure Fighting types.

I have had a lot of changed opinions ever since I started doing nuzlockes. I was forced to battle with loads of pokemon I didn't like, but the longer they stayed on my team, the more I started to like them. Examples are Swanna and Machop, they're still not my favourites but I don't mind having them on my team :) Everyone should do a nuzlocke once in a while, it'll make you like a lot more pokemon than you did before.

Also changed my opinion of a lot of first gen pokemon ever since I (finaly) got firered. I now have a male nidoran on my team, one of the pokemon I really couldn't care less for and now I love it!

I didn't like the elemental monkeys at first, but over time they sorta grew on me, particularly Pansage and Simisage (not because of my love for Cilan, mind you. This was before I started watching the BW anime lol).

I'm guessing people started hating Pokemon cause the design went from Dinos Dragons etc. to Icecream and Gears and Chandeleare.

Oh yeah all the time. Pokemon I didn't care about, think about or like that much became more because either I had them on a Pokemon team (usually because of a challenge), GPX/Pokefarm clicking sites when I gave them a nickname or description, or when they wiped many teams in my honor. Then there's the writing of a Pokemon story, or Roleplaying with that Pokemon. Also fantasying Pokemon battles (Which goes for the Anime), you picture a Pokemon fighting and you see how awesome they really look.

Pokemon that comes to mine are Muk, Scizor, Typlosion, Rapidash, Hydregion, Magmortar, Electivire, Tyranitar, Cacturne, Seviper, Oddish, Nidoran line, Metagross, Volcarno (SP?) and many others that if I keep listing we will be here all night haha, but I am sure more will grow on me. Who knows I don't like Scraggy, Sawk, Throh, the ice creams, Conkledurr lines but maybe they will grow on me somehow, sometime, somewhere.

It also went from magnets, sludge piles and and pokeballs, to hydras, axe-faced dinosaurs and supernova moths. It works both ways. Gen I had bad/odd designs aswell, but no one seems to take that into account.

I disliked Sawk and Throh when they were first revealed, but I like them now. Better than the Hitmons (barring Hitmontop, who is adorable). I really like Ferrothorn and Eelektross now as well.

I disliked most of the 4th gen as well, because it was when that gen came out that I had stopped playing for a few years and only got back into it after a good friend pressured me into it. I didn't like most of them (still don't), but Roserade, Mismagius, Magnezone, and Honchkrow quickly became some of my favorite Pokemon.

On the other hand, Pokemon I used to like and now don't care much for would be Charizard, Mightyena, and Suicune.

Chandelure is best Pokemon, dinosaurs have nothing on him.

As long as that Pokemon has a very interesting origin, I am sold on it. The reason is, it shows that that Pokemon isn't something "hastily designed", but rather, it is something that had a lot of thought put into it or is based on an animal with an interesting lifestyle (like the antlion, which Flygon is based on). For example, Castform was nothing special to me, but thanks to the Origin of Species by Bikini Miltank, I learned to appreciate such a simple Pokemon better. Farfetch'd is in the same boat, because I didn't think it is based on a Japanese phrase.

Thanks for reading.

At first, I was leery about using an Archeops on my team because of its ability. I always liked its design from the start, but was afraid it would be easily weakened in-game.

After recieving my Archeops, I quickly learned how hard and fast it hits, and how many OHKOs I got! Mine can now almost singlehandedly sweep the Battle Subway.

I still hate Charizard and the monkey with a burning passion, but while before I used to have blind contempt for both Pokemon, now I can at least acknowledge that the monkey is a competent combatant and that my hate for Charizard stems from fan reaction more than from its intrinsic design (though I still think it's the most boring of the three Kanto Starters.) Does that count?

Anyway, I have never gone through a major change such as loving a Pokemon I used to hate, but there are a TON of Pokemon I used to be completely indifferent about until I trained them. Then I fell in love with each and every one of them. Now, making a favorites list is a bit difficult for me.

See? I did say it was a huge list.

I used to really dislike the whole Chimchar line. Now however I actually rather like Infernape. The other two still suck though :p

I used to hate all the Gen5 pokemon because they look ugly (they still look ugly), but after playing the games, my opinion totally changed a lot. I just love Galvantula, Chandelure, and the green jelly blob (Reuniclus??).

I'm typically very adamant about my opinions of certain Pokemon. I don't think I ever went from completely loving one Pokemon to hating it the next day (and vice versa), but there were some minor instances where I went from being fine/indifferent about one Pokemon to being meh/okay with it's design.

For a short while after it's reveal, I used to really like Palkia, but then when the jokes about it's head looking like you-know-what started to emerge I completely lost my interest in it. Sorry Palkia ;(

I also used to like Toxicroak, but then my interested kinda faded away. Now I'm not even sure why I liked him in the first place lol.

My opinion about Sceptile seems to constantly see-saw between "a cool raptor lizard with bladed arms" to "ugly anorectic green thing with a pine tree in it's butt". Heh.

On the other hand, I used to not care much about Palpitoad, but then I feel in love with it after I watched BW035. Too bad it doesn't appear much now. Such is a sad fate of a reserve...

I really used to like bulbasaur, but the dog ears killed it for me. Reptiles don't have external ears! This is also the reason why I don't like Reshiram, it's a big bipedal dog with what looks like a jet engine jammed up its arse. Not very dragon-y.
I also really used to like scolipede, but now I find it looks too caterpillar-ish, like it should evolve still. Now that I think of it, I think I liked the moveset scolipede had more than the actual design itself.
I also used to like the sandile line, 'til the one I had got to Krookodile with its dick nose.

On the flip side, I did not like scraggy/scrafty before but they are growing on me now.
I also wasn't keen on piplup, but empoleon singlehandedly redeems that line.

Charizard! It was one of my favorites till just 2 years back. Then i joined the fandom and got sick of its over-ratedness and the legion of charizard fans whining about sr. And also of those tonnes of debates in gen 4 which always ended with charizard fans screaming,"It would have been OU had it not been for stealth rock" followed by "screw smogon, it doesn't ban sr".9.9 I just got sick of it and now every time I see it in battles I like squashing it to juice.

Minun, I used it when I was nuzlocking and ended up being a beast. I used think It was worthless, but now i like it.

A change for me is Tyranitar, but not as extreme as hating it and never using it again but more as not using it as much and only because of its ability, Sand Stream, i do not like it at all, im one of those trainers that has a team that covers all types or has my favorites and sandstream works with a team to tolerate it, not all my pokemon can tolerate it without using a few full restores.

But a couple that have changed for the better for me is Sawk and Chandalure, both have shown me what beasts they can be in battle

I thought Litwick and it's forms were cool, and then I saw what they did in the anime. Now I think they should be killed off for the betterment of mankind. Evil little SOB's.
