This has been bugging me for a while now. In one thread (Can't think of which one) I made a mention of Misty returning to the series, and that she would act as a perfect sort of big sister figure for dawn to follow. After some thought, I've found that this simply wouldn't work.

Misty and Dawn would butt heads like a pair of billygoats. Their personalities clash in ways that likely wouldn't be very friendly. At least not initially.

Dawn is rather vain, and has a somewhat inflated opinion of herself. Misty has shown an extreme distaste for this kind of personality on several occasions, and is rather aggressive in her rebuke.

Dawn has a temper that every bit as forceful as Misty's, if not moreso. However, you have to push either more buttons, or else the right kind of buttons to bring it out.

Dawn has an overconfidence problem, much like Ash's problems initially. Misty would be rather quick to notice this, and would chastise her for her overconfidence, especially if it will lead to trouble. Dawn does NOT take chastisement well (she got into a very hot argument with Ash because Ash kept pointing out her mistakes), and would get rather defensive and angry. This in turn would lead Misty to get angry, and lead her to insults. Dawn would argue, and so on and so forth. Eventually, an actual fight would break out, if not a long string of mean-spirited insults ccoming from both. Ash would try to break it up, only to get himself beaten senseless. This would ultimately upset Pikachu, who would then proceed to thunderbolt the living daylights out of them both.

No, Dawn and Misty wouldn't get along very well initially when their personalities really meet. That being said, Misty would characteristically fangirl over Piplup, and inflate Piplup's already overinflated ego.

Yep thats basicly the bare bones of it but I would STILL like to see mitsy come back.

(Also I play WoW 2)

Yeah, I agree. When Dawn and Misty meet (which will happen, eventually), I can see them getting angry or annoyed with each other. I can see the writers spending a whole episode with them fighting (perhaps getting seperated from the group?), and then at the end they work out their differences and become friends.

On the other hand, I can see May and Dawn becoming friends very easily. They're both very similar, have the same girly mannerisms and interest in Contests, and May doesn't seem like the person who would be bothered by Dawn's self-glorification. Hell, May has even forgiven Harley for all the tricks he pulled on her, so she seems to be the type of girl who wants to like everybody even if they're mean to her!

I also really hope that Dawn knows who May is when she shows up. Dawn HAS to have been watching Contests on TV before she became a trainer right? I'd really like Dawn to see May as somewhat of a celebrity and fangirl her, and then go on all kinds of girly shoujo adventures together, would be sweet.

May is already friends with Misty, so there's nothing new there.

Great analysis. ^_^ I've thought for a while that Misty/Dawn would be a great relationship to mine for a nice feud. Dawn is very similar to Misty's sisters, and we know how Misty responds to them. I like the idea that they'd start out hating each other and then become friends. I can see May being the big-sister figure to Dawn instead.

I don't know if the writers would make them fight if Misty ever cameos in Shinou, though. It depends on whether they want to focus on a relationship between them at all. It may simply be another Misty/May scenario where the two girls don't interact that much.

And then they kiss.
rofl.

Yeah. :D

In all likelihood, it would be the other way around. It has been shown that Dawn's mother is legendary amongst coordinators, and having traveled halfway across the world, May's sure to have heard of her, and that she has a daughter named Dawn. It wouldn't take long for May to connect the dots, either.

But you forget, May had no interest in anything Pokemon related before we met her so she's unlikely to have heard about her. It also seems to me that as she was traveling with Ash she rarely watched other coordinators on TV, considering she always seemed so surprised when she met someone who won the Grand Festival. (like Juan, the Delcatty Lady, the dark-haired breeder woman, or Solidad).

Unless she heard about her mother during her Johto travels, I doubt she knows about her.

And here is an example of my ignorance, since I missed 60% of AG and 95% of BF.

Yeah, that would be a problem. :p

Still, I agree with your opinion that there would probably be some friction between Dawn and Misty should they meet. Misty will probably like Piplup though. And if the writers weren't such pricks, they probably would have had Ash/Brock tell Dawn about May by now. Oh well.

Not having much acccess to local channels really hurt one's chances to see AG, and I didn't know about BF until it was close to over. And likely, there's no real way of getting any episodes without having to endlessly watch Youtube or buy more DvDs than I can store.

Interestingly, however, Max recognized Ash immediately from the TV. Then again, Max probably knows how many parsecs it is from here to Wolf 359.

True, but seeing Misty in Kanto was cool.

Kinda like a flashback.

Plus that... would be AWESOME !!!!

That makes me think of something, do you guys think they're going to do another one of those Pallet Town reunion eps after Sinnoh ends like they did at the end of Hoenn?

I'd like to see Dawn interact with Delia, (similar to how May did, which I thought was rather interesting), and it would be nice to have Dawn see all of Ash's older Pokemon as well.

They're already introduced Dawn to Gary, (which was funny 'cause Gary seemed to think she was a ditz...lol), and I'd like her to meet some of the other old characters as well besides the girls.

Ultimately, if Dawn wants to be a world class coordinator, she's going to have to go through May eventually. And Harley, and Drew...

Harley's likely to drive her to absolute fury. Absolute, demon-eyed satanic wrath like we have never seen before. Harley nearly drove May to the brink, and Dawn is far more temperamental than quiet little May. If he pulls the same crap at Dawn, the result will not be pretty. Whatever masculinity that Harley has left will be chatting with his tonsils.

Drew would pretty much piss her off because, to the very end, Drew comes off as rather arrogant. My guess is, she doesn't take too well when people talk down to her or regard her as lesser, and no matter how "friendly" he became during AG/BF, his mannerisms aren't likely to change, certainly not around Dawn.

And I must go now, for an image of Harley crossdressing as Dawn in her travel outfit has just crossed my brain, and I've a need to go play the hell out of some videogames to erase it.

I wonder if Harley would use a pet name for Hikari (much like Haruka being "Kamo-chan").... can anyone say "Daijoubu-chan"? XD
