What do you think it'd look like?

I see it as somewhat crocodilian with a few aspects of raptors. And what about its wings? I'd say they would definitely be bat like but would be covered in thin yet tough scales. As for the orange, I think it would be a closer to a rusty red-orange color for blending in deserts (ex: Arizona type desert). The blue on its wings? Not sure because I don't think reptiles can see color.

Char is supposed to be a dragon creature. I will agree with the crocodilian head. Even Animal Planet made dragons closely related to crocodilians. However, unlike them, Char can stand upright. That would make it like their prehistoric dragon; a theropod dinosaur-like thing. I would also say a raptor as well, as Char's arms are well-developed. The ancient flying dinos usually had bat-like leathery wings. All of that could be plausible, but I'm kinda stumped on the flame tail. You would need some kind of combustible organic material coming out the end of the tail in a way where it is constantly burning, and yet doesn't scorch the rest of the tail.

The color of Charizard and the characteristics of it would probally come from a pteradactle with some lizard (because the pteradactle's nose is quite large). As for it standing upright i have no idea..but I dont think it would be red. The color would be more tan than orange or red.

For the tail, its a story itself. Because I dont beleive that it would flame at all times. I only believe that when it would induce a fire attack (such as flamethrower or fire spin) It would build up so much of the fire that the flame would spout a bluish-light red color. Thats the only time the fire would come out of its tail.

But hey thats just my opinion :yawn:

I think there's definitely raptor elements involved in the 'zard, though its massive legs are most definitely nothing to do with the sleek raptors (and nothing to do with pterodactyls and the ilk, either).

It'S a strange one, really.Perhaps we can consider the massive legs to be anime-style improvisation, although it seems unlikely, particularly since RSE and the appearance of the *really* raptor-like Grovyle.

As for the blue on the wings, those could be used to attract mates, or possibly to scare off possible opponents in the wild. A sudden flash of blue in a desert would be very surprising.

The flame tail - I'm still going with my theory of magic/ sorcery/ spirt-like qualities in the pokemon world for the explanaition of the tail. After all, isn't it supposed to represent its lifeforce in its Charmander stage?

Yes, obviously the pokémon have SOME supernatural (by our definitions) qualities, and the Char-line's flame tail would appear to be one.

Yeah, that's right Roses. BTW, I love your magic theory. It makes a lot of sense to me.

Edit: Dami beat me to it.

When I saw this topic earlier, it reminded me of a realistic pic of Charizard I saw a while ago in a google search. Unfortunately, it's only a head shot, but still it gives us a good idea how Char would look like in real life.

See? That's the kidn of art I hope to see more of ^^;

I just look at one of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern novels to see what I think a real-life Charizard would resemble. I agree with Roses Ablaze as to the nature of Charizard's fire-breathing ability. It has to be their essence, their life-force, just like water or electricity are for other Pokémon.

Better to bump up a fairly recent thread than start a new one, I think...

I recently sketched what a realistic Charmander might look like:

My computer is weird sometimes. But that's a good pic. I like the lengthened claws on its feet; they resemble the feet of an iguana somewhat.
