Cheryl Cole's dream of being a judge on X Factor USA was suddenly, and humiliatingly, swiped away.

But just as swiftly, there has been another twist to this never-ending saga. There are now reports that she has been offered her job back.

Dan Wootton, showbiz editor of the News of the World said on Sky News: "It's just a matter of Cheryl actually agreeing to definitely get on that plane."

He continued: "This has been pretty damaging for her and it's also been hugely damaging for Simon Cowell because it's looked like he hasn't been in control of his own show."

He also said: "What this is about is him taking back the initiative really and saying to Fox TV in the states, 'I believe in Cheryl, I want her back'."

Lest we forget, there had been no official confirmation of a sacking from Fox or anyone associated with Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell. We await the next twist in this story.
