In addition to the announcement of the new Pokémon spin-off title, the September 12th Nintendo Direct has also unveiled additional Mega Evolutions for Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja that will be available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A this October. A further two Mega Evolutions, Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, will make their debut in the newly announced Mega Dimension paid DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. A selection of additional announcements were also made in a separate official website update.

Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja will each become available to players as they continue through the game's Z-A Battle Club, with the Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, and Greninjite Mega Stones that are required for these Mega Evolutions being acquired as promotion rewards from online Ranked Battles against other players. The Greninjite will be available during Ranked Battles Season 1 that commences October 16th, while the Delphoxite and Chesnaughtite will become available in Seasons 2 and 3 respectively. These Mega Stones will not otherwise be available through regular gameplay.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A will also be receiving paid DLC, entitled Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension. Much like with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's DLC expansion before it, Mega Dimension serves as a post-game expansion to the story, with Team MZ encountering strange distortions in space across Lumiose City which connect to a dimensional space known as Hyperspace Lumiose that seems to be connected to the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa.

As part of this DLC, Raichu will be receiving two separate Mega Evolution forms, Mega Raichu X, and Mega Raichu Y. Both will apparently be able to be encountered by meeting specific conditions in the DLC's story, though at this point it's not clear if players will have access to both in a single playthrough, or if they will need to choose between one or the other.

Mega Raichu X

Category: Mouse Pokémon
Type: Electric
Height: 3'11"
Weight: 83.8 lbs.

It Floats Using Electromagnetism and Concentrates Electricity into Its Fists
The repulsion from the electromagnetic force generated by its two tails allows it to float as it moves. Its ample subcutaneous fat can store up electric energy, letting it maintain a high electrical output and heightening its defensive capabilities! Using electromagnetism to propel itself swiftly through the air, it can take down opponents several times its size with a single blow of its electrically charged fists. It bears a distinctive resemblance to regular Raichu.

Mega Raichu Y

Category: Mouse Pokémon
Type: Electric
Height: 3'3"
Weight: 57.3 lbs.

It Strikes Swiftly and Bathes Foes in Electric Power
Mega Raichu Y’s greatest strength is its ability to unleash its power instantaneously, so it excels in short, decisive battles. The amount of electricity it can generate in the electric sacs on its cheeks has been powered up. The energy generated in these cheek pouches is amplified as it courses in a zig-zag pattern between its tail and the spiky, horn-like fur on its head, letting it unleash powerful Electric-type moves. All this electric energy gives it a wild and combative temperament, causing it to eschew tactical maneuvers in favor of a straightforward approach to battling. It bears a distinctive resemblance to Pikachu.
