Hi
This is my first actual posted story. This story isn't planned because it is something that just popped in my mind suddenly. It is just something to dwell on since im down in the dumps. Typos are expected and this will be done in parts. Hope you like it.

Content Warning: None...
Slight feeling of nostalgia (For the character, not you!)

Evan walked down the cobbled path solemnly, his Rockruff following with a sense of dread of what would happen. The freezing temperatures saw to it that their breaths floated in the air as steam, as the crunch of snow interrupted the silence. Evan looked up into the sky, an endless loom of nostalgia. He was still attending high school, but something, deep down, took him here. It was far away from Naranja Academy, in Sinnoh. He remembered that when he was a child, sun glowed brightly on this green grass and the chatter of birds filled the air. Evan could just faintly hear the distant sound of children's laughter, their voices echoing through time.

Suddenly, he came to an abrupt halt. Rockruff whimpered in question as it bumped into him. Evan felt stuck in time, his eyes stuck at the piece of memory he had made when he was a child. A single tear just rolled down his eye as he stared. A tree. Before a swarm of Cryogonal had swarmed this forest, this tree was adorned with sweet-smelling cherry blossom. He and his playmate had hung swings, built forts and lay beneath the tree. He looked at it now, his height now drastically different to his childhood's height. Evan reached out to touch the tree, where Evan and his friend had watched his father, hammer planks in it to build a small ladder. There were many grooves in it, the symbol of their growing height over the years. Evan could just imagine himself scratching a groove each year, as he and his playmate grew up together, bonding and playing.

He hesitated, unable to stretch his fingers any further. His childhood memories were precious. Yet, after they had entered high school, they spent less and less time here, growing more distant from one another. Rockruff saw this and nuzzled his knee in an attempt to comfort him. Rockruff placed one of its forepaws against the tree, looking up at Evan.

Evan was touched at this gesture. Yes, his childhood memories were precious, but he would make so much more in the future. It was best to move on. He knelt down, and placed his hand aginst the trunk, beside Rockruff's. The air got warmer, and a swirl of melting snow suddenly....

========

Evan stared at the tree. Back, after so many years. Lycanroc stood beside him, like he always had. Briefly remembering how snow had fallen on the the last time they were here, brought a smile to his face. He glanced at his Lycanroc, meeting its loyal, green eyes. Once again, the pressed their hands against the tree trunk, seeing the difference of height they now had. They stood on the newly grown grass again. Birds tweeted happily, the scent of wildflowers wafted through the air, just like it once had been, like it always would've been, if not for...

"Evan?"
He looked behind him to see a familiar figure with a Lucario coming down the same cobble path.
"Luke?"
