Yeah, this deserved its own thread.

Ash has an actual monkey with personality now, unlike Aipom whose only quirk going for it was a rehash of Chikorita's personality.

Since I don't see the writers having Ash with a team of two monkey's...its time for Aipom to say BYE BYE and go join Dawn's Contest roster. Likewise, Buizel and Piplup on the same team is pointless and she doesn't need two water types, so everything has worked out in the end anyway.

Chimchar is just so fun and playful that Aipom looks pretty dull in comparison. Let Dawn have the purple monkey, give Ash the playful one. I can't wait.
 
I like Aipom.

When it evolves it will have TWO HANDS COMING OUT OF ITS ASS.

I forgot where I correctly guess Aipom's evolution ( and I wasn't even serious).

I said Chimchar stay with Ash and Buizel join in a trade for Aipom. I know people complain about him getting the same types all the time but they are the most commonly used types.
 
Or we can simply like them both and not compare them and try to find the "better" just because they're monkeys

They both cute and have personality and are interesting enough
Aipom might also get more development after the trade as it'll probably be hard for it at the beginning to be used by Dawn and not Ash (that already is something that makes the trade even more interesting)

Also if Aipom is a Chikorita/Bayleef "rehash" than Chimchar is a Charmander "rehash" -_-

Also its love for contests is much better description of Aipom than its "love" for Ash that I don't remember seeing a lot of time already
 
Makes me wonder why they didn't give Aipom to May in the first place, well besides trying to advertise Ambipom in the future, that is.

Also, I agree with Piplup, complaining about stupid things like this is pointless. I happen to like both pokemon equally.
 
I don't think you can find a flaming mokey or a monkey with a hand coming out of its ass to have more merit than the other. Can you? 'Cause if I was given a choice, I take them both.

Chimchar was only interesting because of its connection to Shinji. Really, "fun and playful" isn't enough for me to stay interested in it now that it's with Ash. At least that's more than what Aipom has now that it doesn't seem to show how much it likes Ash anymore.

In conclusion, I still find the personalities in Ash's team to be dull as hell compared to AG. :p

How though? It's pretty obvious that Eipam is a rehash of Chicorita, but that was something that died quickly I guess you could say. Now it's quirk is that it likes contests. But I guess that was always a quirk. But how is Hikozaru a Hitokage? Okay, they both had sucky original trainers, but that's about it.

Eipam is one of my favourite pokémon, but we haven't really seen it that much. Did it even appear in the Tag Battle episodes at a length of time? I think it was for like thirty seconds on the 2nd episode's beginning.

Both Pokemon had trainers who thought they weren't strong enough;
Both Pokemon were abandoned by their trainers because they weren't strong enough;
Both Pokemon were caught by Ash;
Both Pokemon have fire near their nether regions;

and those are the only four things I can come up with, :p
 
Turtwig is kinda a rehash of Bulbasaur as well. Its entire first episode was a badly done remake of "Bulbasaur and the hidden village," and it doesn't really have much of a distinguished personality either.

Ash's team got stuck with rehashes of old Pokemon this gen, whereas Dawn and Brock got the original Pokemon. :)
 
Rehash shmihash. Whatever. All I know is that I like Hikozaru better simply because he's a freakin' fire monkey and has a sweet personality.
 
I think Ash's capture of Chimchar shows the great character development the writers have put into this arc. Ash is no longer that moron who caught Pokemon that pissed him off and stole his hat, and Chimchar has a little backstory, to show how Paul got the damn thing. So Chimchar and Ash's capture may be a point to show how much the story can develop.

Turtwig is a rehash of Bulbasaur! Chimchar is a rehash of Charmander! Dawn is a rehash of May! Pachirisu is a rehash of Skitty! both are cute that both May/Dawn and Jessie wanted! Buneary is a rehash of Eevee! both are brown normal types! Piplup is a rehash of Torchic because they both have a beak and if Dawn would choose Chimchar we'll say it's a rehash of Torchic as well because it's a fire type! Croagunk is a rehash of Max who is rehash of Misty because they all pulled Brock away from girls! Seviper is a rehash of Arbok! Carnivine is a rehash of Cacnea that is a rehash of Victreebel! Chimchar is a rehash of Aipom that is a rehash of Primeape! Azurill is a rehash of Togepi! Buizel is a rehash of Treecko! Mime Jr. is a rehash of Chimecho! Paul is a rehash of Gary! Juan is a rehash of Misty! Anabel is a rehash of Sabrina! Tyson is a rehash of Harrison who is a rehash of Richie! Skitty is a rehash of Psyduck because it come out of its ball! I'll preside.

Pokemon is all about rehashing now. Though in D/P the rehashing is better than the original. Groagunk poisons Brock and then drags his paralyzed body somewhere (you have to wonder where he drags him off to). Carnivine is better because he's with Cacnea to give James the double pain. Pipulp is better than Torchic because it has an attitude and can actually battle while Torchic was a helpless ditz right up until it evolved.

Where were you back in 2005? Bulbagarden really could have used you when this forum was filled with nothing but complaining back then. You should have seen the ridiculous things some people used to say back then, although I suppose you could use the search feature and still find some old threads I'm talking about. It's nice to see another person not stuck in the past.
