Even though only 1-2% of Japan is Christian, Christmas was just too much fun and too big of a commercial opportunity for good ole' Japan to pass up! But I don't really know much about the specific traditions or whatever.

Has anyone ever celebrated Christmas in Japan, or know much about it? Apparently light displays are pretty popular.

What is your favorite Christmas scene in an anime?

What about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and all the rest of the little winter holidays? Is there a Japanese winter festival of some kind?

Leave it to the Jap[s/anese for those who might be offended] to create Christmas tree sculptures of Godzilla.

Christmas in Japan is closer to Valentine's Day than it is Christmas. It's more of a day to spend with your lover, and tends to be a day of the year when the frequency of dates is high.

It's really only those that celebrate Christmas in Japan that regard December 25th as "Christmas"

From what I've heard, Christmas in Japan is more of a night out with friends and lovers while New Years is an important time for family. The opposite of how Western nations celebrate the 2 holidays.
