Will America ever get the Chronicles DVDs? Or is 4Kids afraid to release them here?

...Despite what they did to Bashou, I'm still wanting them. Angsty Training Daze James = teh sex, and as a Meowth fan, I'm demanding my Meowth eps.

Maybe they're simply planning to air it first and release the final box-set of the entire series?

Considering the final release here isn't due till the start of next year, if they are planning to only release the Box-Set, America'll have to wait until at least then.

Why does America have to wait for Britain? Just because we don't have Volume Four yet, doesn't mean that America can't have the episodes. Especially since we first saw the last episode months ago.

Yeah, what I don't understand is why they can't air Pokemon Chronicles over here....

I mean, couldn't they air it on Cartoon Network?

Or are they just planning to release Pokemon Chronicles on DVD, and that's it?

Well, since the group publishing the entire Chronicles set appears to be British or have a British focus for this particular lisence (No real idea... >->), they would release the full Box Set here before elsewhere.

That's just DVD releases though. And that's only if they were to ONLY release the full box-set.

I really can't think of a really good reason why Chronicles hasn't aired at all in the USA but has pretty much everywhere else.

Well, other than a nice enough reversing of the tables. :p

*looks around for ANY sign of a Wishmaker DVD release in the UK and is flattened by Miramax*

Perhaps America's networks are all far too competitive to want to air shows like the chronicles and don't have crap cheesy channels like Toonami UK who have nothing else better to show maybe?

Having said that, I very much like the chronicles, but my point is I think most American networks are put off by the fact that "Ash isn't in it" so they might feel there's no point in showing it.

Incidently, if anyone's desperate there's a load of the dvd box sets being sold on ebay UK at the moment, region 2 only though. obviously.

Chronicles has some Gems, mainly the TR eps, but is in general a very meh series.

The originals were meh enough but the dub doesn't do that much to help in a lot of cases.

One case to note is that I watched the Moltres Special HOSO when it first aired in Japan and it was decent enough. Watching the Chronicles one made me want to kill myself. Richie is probably the most single annoying character the dub has ever made even more annoying.

That said, despite some bombs like the Legend of Thunder, it's a series I wouldn't disuade anyone from wanting or getting. And they're pretty easy to get a hold of. Either through Ebay or.... other methods.

Oh.

Well, that's interesting, Sharpshooter.

I've been wondering though, will a regular American DVD player allow me to play region 2 DVDs on it?

Or, do you have to buy a specific, region 2 DVD player in order to do that?

I'm not sure how all that region stuff works....

yeah, you either have to buy a region-free dvd player, or have to get one that plays whatever region dvd player you want to buy. I was looking into buying the japanese movies years ago, but you had to have a region 8 dvd player or something, and in america its region 1(...?) I beleive

I think so... Power DVD, which I use for my screenshots, does.

Oh, okay.

Are you sure it's Power DVD and not the ROM that allows you to watch region 2 DVDs? When I asked the dude at Blockbuster if American DVD-ROMs would play region 2 DVDs, he said no.

I have Power DVD. If you're sure.... I'm begging my mom to get me Pokemon Chronicles volumes 2 & 3 right now (since the only place for us non-UKers is to get them online, apparently, and I have no online money stuff). XD

The DVD player on my computer allows you to change the region setting, but you're only allowed to change it a certain number of times before it stays locked on the region you set.

Therefore, I just use my Japanese PS2 to play my Japanese DVD's (all two of them :p)

You could cheat by installing one of them open-source DVD players, but they're not really used on Windows. Hardware doesn't want to give the encryption key, no problem, we'll just work it out ourselves.

Okay, just checked the PowerDVD help. I can change the region settings up to five times, and if I'm understanding it correctly, all I have to do is put in a DVD of a region that it's not currently set to to get the "change the region setting" dialogue box.

No problemo. There's more than one DVD player on my computer. *proceeds to beg mother for Pokémon Chronicles*

Thanks for the help and info. :)

My friend went on a cruise over Christmas break, and he said he saw a Chronicles ep... the Richie one (twitches... Richie.)

Part of me hopes they're redubbing LoT...

Though I wonder if the recent PUSA thing has anything to do with the delay...
