Meh, Square DS games are too freaking expensive. $40 bucks is kind of crazy, and I'd want more content than a straight port with a new dungeon. Like a new time period or one more hidden party member.

link doesn't work for me :(

I hope it'll see a European release, then it will be the first chrono game on UK shores! :DDDDDDD

I must say, this is awesome news. I am a big fan of Crono Trigger.

Between this and Mega Man 9, they next few months are going to be pretty exciting.

So much for CT virtual console.

*shot*

Would you expect anything else from Sqeenix? :p

Why use the vitrual console when you can make a port/remake for the DS and sell it for at least twice the price tag it would have on VC?

When I saw this on RPGFan I got psyched up since I never got to play the original Chrono Trigger on the SNES. Anyways, I will definitely get this when it comes out.

*adds yet another thing to his "upcoming stuff I need to get" list*

Pretty exciting, I must say. Though I think the big question here is "what took so damn long?"

Seriously, this game should have come out during the GBA days.

The Square-Enix games that cost $40 are due to their higher-than-normal production values and the fact that they have to use SD cards with a larger memory capacity than most other DS games.

I'm excited for this... but I can't help but wish the used the gorgeous Dragon Quest IV/V/VI overworld engine. Just imagining what it would look like... wow!

THIS.

Hopefully some media on VI comes out soon, I'm itching to see how it's going to be updated as it hasn't been seen since it's Super Famicom incarnation...

Countdown is now "really" up. 22 hours remain from this post.

I hope it retains all the extras that the PSone version had, but with the better loading times like the SNES original.

Meh. Give me EarthBound dangit! I think somewhere around here I've got a working Chrono Trigger Cart and A dead EB, 'cuz I liked it more

Well that's Nintendo of America being hardheaded about the Mother franchise in the US. Mother 1 and Mother 2 (Earthbound) WERE re-released on the GBA, but NoA didn't localize it. Ditto for Mother 3.

The thing is, RPGs were still kind of new at the time and EarthBound didn't reach the commercial success in the US as it had in Japan. Give it time, it took almost 20 years just to get a direct port of the Japanese Super Mario 2 (Lost Levels).

I don't know if I can agree with that. Earthbound was released in '95, after both Final Fantasy II (IV) and III (VI). In addition, games like Secret of Mana and and Lufia had already been in the SNES' library. Not to mention the countless computer RPGs that came before even the days of the SNES.

I feel as though Earthbound's failure was a result of bad marketing on Nintendo's part. Their ad campaign used the tagline "this game stinks" ... really?

Earthbound was released in a huge box and bundled with a complete guide. It probably costed Nintendo a pretty penny to put that out on shelves. When it failed to sell, it was probably a pretty significant financial hit. Nintendo is left with a bitter taste in their mouths with the Mother franchise. Hence, I don't think we'll see the franchise get revived in the US, which is a shame because it would not be a repeat of 1995.

There may be a possibility. Ness and Lucas have increasing popularity thanks to the Smash series, and Nintendo Power's polls show that the EarthBound (Mother) series is most requested for Virtual Console.
