I know certain things in the game keep track of the clock, like the Pal Park, but would messing with the clock affect the number of hours logged on your gameplay time? I ask this because while I haven't been playing much attention to my playtime, when I got to Sunyshore for the first time and saw 60:00, I kind of double-blinked, if you get what I mean. And then I kind of really went "wtf" when every single person I told said that they were at about 30 hours, and most of them were past Sunyshore. Now, it's true I did spend some time trying to catch a few "perfect" Pokemon, but it wouldn't have added up to 30 extra hours, especially because whatever time I might've wasted on that was compensated for the fact that I was using a walkthrough to breeze past routes and skip about 75% of all the trainers. Plus I haven't done a single Contest or a lot of the other time-consuming sidequest things, and I haven't spent that much time in the underground (like maybe 5 hours total).

I can't find any other explanation for at least half of the 30 extra hours, and yet early in the game it didn't seem like the clock affected the time logged for gameplay...

I B CONFUZED. HALP.

Don't know if you've figured it out yet, but I'm pretty sure the game continues tracking your time even when you close the DS (putting it to sleep). I'm at 70 hours now and just arrived at the Pokemon League (though I still need to train). More often than not I keep my DS on its lowest light setting and let it sleep between play times. Saving takes far too long for me to do that and then shut down the system.

Oh, that explains a LOT! I thought the timer stopped after closing the DS.....

I'm not sure that's the case. I made a note of what the timer was at and closed the DS for about a half an hour and when I opened it back up it was the same. I just beat the elite four and I'm at 95 hours. *shrug*

Ah, you're correct. My friend kept telling me he always saved and turned off his DS to keep his game time down. Looking at my game time, I assumed he was right. I guess I've been dilly-dallying (and leaving my DS open) a bit too much.
