I am wondering what others think.

Do you consider cloned pokemon to be legit?

if so why and if not why.

I think they ARE legit, because there is no way of detecting if they are cloned or not. It's not like someone hacked them, like with a code that makes you only encounter 1 pokemon and having another code on that makes all pokeballs work as masterballs (i've gotten a deoxys like this)

you caught a deoxys like that? or you were traded one that was caught like that?

As long as the cloning process is viable, I think clones should be counted as legit. The data is identical, so why shouldn't they be?

Legit. You still caught the Pokemon/got it from an event/whatever yourself without cheating or codes, and you're not using codes to duplicate it. And it makes things like events more widely available to people who missed out on events, since someone can be nice and make them a copy, without losing their own.

Depends on the situation for me to be honest. If it's to help someone who doesn't have access to the Pokemon, then I consider it legit, but if it's just so you can have more than one, such as to build an uber team of PCP or something (Not that PCP would necessarily make a super team, though they could) then I don't find them legit.

Legit. Theres no point why they shouldnt be considered real if theyre identical to a pokemon you've gotten legitimatley...

As long as the original is legit the clone is legit. Hasn't this thread been done before?

Trust me there have been numerous threads like this one. They all eventually end up being closed for going no where because it comes down to people arguing whether or not hacking is a good or bad.

Anyways on to the topic, cloned Pokemon in my opinion are NOT legit, since they were obtained via a device or code used for hacking. Yes the stats and everything else is legit, but it was hacked...if it isn't hacked then we should be able to clone Pokemon as we please right :p

Quit stirring the pot or this thread will die a painful death by locking :mallet:

PS Emerald clones are legit then :p

There are ways to duplicate Gen IV Pokemon without using an AR or similar hacking device or any kind of code.

Emerald also has its own (inadvertant) cloning feature, that can be performed in-game, glitch-free, and with 100% reliability.

I find them legit. You're not using cheating devices (such as GameShark, etc.), you're exploiting a glitch in the game (which can be done in any other local copies of the same game), the Pokemon are cloned from Pokemon you've obtained legitimately, and the data matches any normally-obtained Pokes.

I'd say they're legit but I still don't like them. Cloning seems to be missing the point of events and shinies. Their whole purpose is to be rare. If everyone can just make as many of them as they like, they've lost all of their value. But I will still say that, unless you use a cheating device to clone them, clones are legit because the glitch is part of the game, even if it is a glitch.

Legit. I cloned in emerald for several reasons, so i could complete the gen 3 pokedex, and so i could pal park pokemon without deleting them.

Clones fall under a very gray area as far as gaming ethics go. While it's true that the majority of the Pokemon community accept clones as legitimate so long as the original Pokemon were legitimate, there's no getting around the fact that one way or another, you have to cheat in order to produce a clone.

Now, as far as the stance that clones obtained via glitch are legitimate while clones obtained via external device aren't, that's just a load of crap. Morally speaking, there's no difference between those two acts. If you are knowingly and repeatedly abusing a beneficial in-game glitch, you're cheating. There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. These are the same people who complain about people who use PokeSav to make super Pokemon, but have no problem with running into Missingno. in GenI so they could shove a hundred rare candies down their monster's throat.

They're legit. They aren't altered or anything. Just a normal pokemon that is the exact same as another one. I don't find anything wrong with that.

GF never intended cloning to be in the game, so by definition it's not legit.

I have to agree whit Rellik, there is no difference in using an AR to clone than to abuse glitches, except for the fact that an AR screw up your game.

Rellik and Battaman are without a doubt correct.
Cloning is cheating. All kinds of hacking and abuse of glitches are, of course.
