I was researching the Pokemon species for 3 years, I think that these are the Pokemon that they are going to put for the fifth generation:

1) three-stage evolutionary line for a grass type with a hat like plants
2) three-stage evolutionary line for a psychic type
3) two fossil Pokemon (one which have tentacles somewhere in its body and the other is armored with a blade like claw)
4) weak fish that evolves into a mighty serpent
5) three-stage evolutionary line for a rock type
6) bivalve Pokemon
7) seal Pokemon
8) one-stage evolutionary line for a poison type blob-like body Pokemon
9) one-stage evolutionary line for a evil-looking sea Pokemon
10) mushroom Pokemon
11) insect Pokemon that evolves into a moth
12) more of Pokemon with three-stage evolutionary line

If anyone want proof! LOOK AT THE 1st and 3rd GENERATION POKEMONS with the descriptions above and compare the two

Are you saying the pattern is that every odd numbered gen has these types in it? Well, you have good evidence but it doesn't really constitute a pattern.

I don't know if GF would make another set like this. It could very well happen though, the only way I see another seal or mushroom based line appearing would be if they were starters. That'd be cool

Mushroom starters? Oh no, those would be too adorable! I'd pick it, even if it wasn't a Fire type!

Don't forget, there won't be a evolution OR pre-evolution of any pokemon from the previous generations. They'll only be in the 6th generation (the even generation). HOWEVER thry maybe some baby evolution from the 4th generation

What's with Pokémon fans trying to fit everything to a precise pattern?

You can base guesses off of how they do things in the past, which is why several of your predictions are probably right, but they don't do things in nice even sequences. Even if they did, four generations is hardly enough to base it off of.

Firm facts and some of my suspects are:
*3 starters-One Type Fire, the other Water and the third Grass(all probably single typed)
*Mid-evos of the starters
*Final Starter evolutions(presumably dual-typed,perhaps Dark/Fighting/Psychic)
*HM Slave Pokémon(Normal type,2 evolutionary stages)
*Bird Pokémon(one type perhaps normal;2 or three evolutionary stages)
*One or two Bug families
*At least two fossils, based upon prehistoric animals or plants
*Pokémon that have a plant body
*Fish Pokémon
*Humanoid Pokemon
*Feline Pokémon
*Ghost-like Pokémon
*Additions to evolutionary chains for Pokémon of older generations.
*Perhaps new forms
*Pokémon of all types(meaning that there are all types in the gen.)
*Pseudo legendaries according to the models of Salamence,Tyranitar or Metagross
*Legendary Pokémon
-the mascots(presumably a trio)
-roaming legendaries(one or two,probably)
-representatives of heavenly/supernatural forces
-caught after the league
-small and cute legendary/ies
-those only accessible through Nintendo events

everyone know that already
and the "*Additions to evolutionary chains for Pokémon of older generations." will be in the even generation

It's not like rules can't be broken.

BTW, Gen III had two prevos, specifically Azurill and Wynaut. :/

I don't think one can say that they'll invent a mushroom Pokémon because they already did it in the past.Maybe they think that it's enough mushrooms and new things will spring up nobody thought of.

I forgot to mention about:

1) Fire Hoofed-Mammal Pokemon
Ponyta and Rapidash/Numel and Camerupt

2) Crustacean Pokemon
Kingler/Crawdaunt

3) 1 pure rock type and will have an evolution on the next generation
Onix/Nosepass

First pure Rock type Pokemon came in Gen II, his name is Sudowoodo.

Uhh...that's rather presumptuos. The third gen was similar to the 1st, this happened ONCE. That doesn't constitute a pattern nor a clue. And remember, until FireRed/LeafGreen third gen essentially broke off from the last two gens so it makes sense that it had similar Pokemon that people would feel familiar with.

However, you simply cannot pretend there is some sort of pattern that they must adhere to. That would be ridiculous and repetitive. After seeing 4th gen I'd say they are definitely taking a new direction with things and I would be very surprised for a formula to be followed.

I don't consider nearly anything posted in this thread as clues. Those are just wild guesses and assumptions.

I think there were some keychain figures of which some were just silhouettes with a question mark over them. It was on Bulbanews, I'll go and search it.
E: Here, though I don't know how they were related to that movie.
