Has anyone seen the Code Geass Anime on Adult swim, I find it an awsome show what about u guys

I love it. My favorite mecha series at the moment.

Seems to be getting a lot of bad rep from most anime fans, but oh well. To each their own.

I loved it, but I haven't been able to keep up with it lately (I'm only up to about episode 5). I haven't heard to much about it from others though, I was starting to think I was one of the only people who actually watched it.

I've seen the episodes as they air on Adult Swim.

I don't really care for mecha series at all, but I've been enjoying it just fine. Although from what I've seen the mechas don't really seem to be the main focus. *doesn't know if that's normal or not* I think I'm mainly watching it because I'm a Johnny Yong Bosch fanboy and the opening is so damn catchy. XD

EDIT: 1337 POSTS.

Yeah, the lack of lots and lots of mecha isn't normal. That's one of the reasons it's criticized.

I prefer it that way, because when mecha take the spotlight, plot tends to suffer at their expense.

Also, it's dissed because of CLAMP's "noodle" character designs. I like their designs though...

Watch Bokurano. Anyway, I liked Code Geass because of the fact that the main protagonists had generic, grunt mechas, while the main antagonist had that one special, unique prototype. The mechas didn't have omgh4x like most real robot shows(Remember Zeta Gundam and Macross 7?). It really was an interesting take on mecha anime, but now everyone has their own, unique machine, and pretty much suffered the fate of every other "real" robot series. If the whole mind game thing wasn't there, I wouldn't continue watching, but even that's starting to suck, if it hasn't been already. But then again, this is Sunrise we're talking about. They're only there to sell toys and can't make a decent plot for shit(With a few exceptions like The Big O; basically anything that wasn't muddled with the goal of producing as many toys as possible.), even with CLAMP's help. If you want a mecha anime with a good plot, you can place your bet on BONES, Gainax, or Xebec.

lol, I was going to say that, lol.
I assume you are referring to the up to date status of the Series in Japan... only because I don't remember some of the stuff you were talking about in the series.

I did actually like some gundams for their plot. 00 gundam being an example, (but I never actually fallowed it to the end though). I don't know what series you are referring to with Xebec, but I'd say they are just as guilty as sunrise for creating mech shows for selling toys  (Don't even get me started on Gainax whoring out their properties to Bandai)

As for Code Geass... mmm... s'okay. It's got that extreme Japan Nationalism vibe which I find a bit cheesy, but it's fun to watch occasionally. I prefer the mind games parts as well.

Gundam 00 had a bad plot, trust me. Also, Xebec can create series without the goal of selling toys(Nadesico, Fafner, Godannar). I forgot to mention GONZO too, but they ruin their plots because they're too focused on creating high-quality art and music for their shows.

I thought Vandread was pretty good (and that's a fanservice series on top of everything else). Also, how can this entire conversation go without a single mention of Full Metal Panic?

I didn't really see to many parallels to Full Metal Panic.

I mean, I did get a Arbalest vibe from the Lancealot. Though the High School segments weren't anything like FMP's, since Suzaku didn't blow the school up several times.

On an interesting note though, Tessa's seiyuu is CC's too D:

I've only seen a couple of episodes, but I like what I've seen.

This is one of the few mecha animes I watch. I'm up to date with the dub and I really enjoy watching it! Always good to know other people are watching too so it won't make me feel like the only one. In my opinion, move over Evangelion, HELLO Code Geass!

I didn't even know how the hell to even pronounce the title until the fourth episode DX

I watched Code Geass last year, in Japanese. It's an amazing series, and you owe it to yourselves to watch it subtitled. No American voice actor can compare for Zero's evil laugh.

It's really best to not think of Code Geass as a mecha show. It's made by Sunrise (same guys who make Gundam), so of course there's mecha in it, but the series focus is really on the characters. Mecha here are just tools and weapons of war. Think of them as tanks or something, rather than OMGGIANTROBOBIGBOOMTHINGY, and it's a lot more enjoyable.

Also....Zero x Karen FTW.

I've watched a few episodes, I'm interested in what it's about... I really like the opening song of Series 2 ("O2" by Orange Range)

Yeah, especially Bosch. He sounds laughably bad as Zero (his Lelouche is passable at best...), I mean, he doesn't sound intimidating AT ALL.

In my opinion, move over Evangelion, HELLO Code Geass!

I'm...ambivalent about this. Evangelion is a mecha show, but in a sense it's also a parody, and Code Geass doesn't focus too much on the mecha.

Archaic has pretty much got the focus of the series; it's more a science-fantasy than mecha, but I wouldn't describe it as a complex, character-driven drama. I tend to think of it like Death Note; it has a real sense of "serious silliness" to it. That, and with the idea of a criminal genius as the main character, the series has a focus more on Lelouch's campaign rather than fight sequences.

However, I also found it to have some real nonsense: Mao survived being gunned down because his Geass was used to shoot him, not kill him. Logic be damned. It particularly starts to drop in quality after the second opening, which just grated. Eventually, it dissolved into a ridiculous trainwreck, and despite its lead being hyper-intelligent, it ultimately became mindless fun. The writing became predictable (Lelouch vs. Suzaku? I totally didn't see THAT coming!), characterizations stereotypical...but goddamn it, when it doesn't take itself seriously, it's very amusing.

Since I live in the UK, nobody has yet to pick up the license to broadcast it over here yet. Anime Central is just re-running the same episodes of Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex to run out their license. So I caught it on YouTube, and the dub is pretty good. I suppose it was a bit much to expect Johnny Yong Bosch to voice Lelouch, considering it's a real departure from his usual "badass-with-heart-of-gold" style of character. That said, I think he does quite well.

Lol @ saying Bosch's Zero doesn't sound intimidating. Directing you to my "better when it doesn't take itself seriously" point.

PIZZA HUT FTW.

So Zero should sound like a clown to further Geass' "not taking itself seriously" syndrome?

Considering how ridiculous the series gets later on, it wouldn't be out of place. I'm not exactly condoning it though.
