Compatibility

i'm hoping for DSi only, DLC would be great, instead of hidden ingame items that unlock

Unless they pull in some stupid DSi features that are REQUIRED to play, then it will run on a DS and DS Lite. Based on the fact they don't have the DSi's logo on the page, I would say it's safe to assume they won't have any required DSi functions.

I don't think it would do well if they became DSi only... And plus, its not like the DSi is a completely new console.

It has enough features to allow for DSi ONLY games (not just DSi ware games), thus is can be considered a different console. Also this, SquareEnnix thinks them to be different enough to list them separately.

I am willing to bet that, since new generations are generally optimized to run on the newset consoles, that we will finally have WPA-support in the game for Nintendo Wifi Connection.

Why they didn't put it in HG/SS, I will never know.

It won't be DSi only as the DSi isn't that much different than DS excpet slightly faster and better colour screens and sound.

The DSi came out before HGSS and HGSS doesn't have WPA support. Hope these games do though!

Only thing I can see is the camera there, but thats it, its marginally faster than a DS so that won't help too much, a little but thats it.

I know. It's a travesty, and it made me have to track down one of those damned USB connectors. Not an easy task to get to work in Windows 7.

It's not like it's impossible to change the wifi format.

Also, does anyone remember this little function called Pal Park? Does anyone remember the special pokemon you could find if you had a Ruby or Sapphire in the GBA slot?

Exactly, and FYI, I don't even think that DLC will work for the DSi, there is no data from the game saved to the system, which can be quite a problem when downloading since the DSi does not have the ability to multitask.

What do Pal Park and the Dongle method have to do with each other?

They don't, but they are functions that are DS and Lite exclusives. Look back at my previous post, I edited this in:

The DSi's processor is actually clocked at twice the speed of the Phat/Lite, and it has 4x the RAM.

However, in the year and a half the DSi has been around there's only been 2 or 3 DSi-exclusive cartridges released; and at this point Nintendo would only have something to lose by releasing a major title like Pokemon as a DSi-exclusive. The vast majority of DS owners are still using Phats and Lites, and with the 3DS announcement I'm sure there'll be more people saving their money for that now, instead of dropping $200 on a DSi if they've already got another DS. Nintendo would lose out on way too many sales to owners of Phats/Lites.

Well, it's obvious that Black and White will work on all four models of the Nintendo DS (Phat, Lite, i, iXL). I however, would like some features exclusive to the Phat and Lite (Pal Park, Dongle?) and some exclusive to the i and XL (use of camera to enhance 3D?).

If there are any DSi/XL exclusive features, I doubt GameFreak will make them necessary for gameplay, just extras.
