Generations I and II had Stadium and Stadium 2, III had Colosseum and XD, IV has Battle Revolution, but what about Generation Cinco?

My proposal: A console version of the handheld games. None of this "shadow Pokemon" bullcrap. We need a walk-in-grass, get-some-badges, epic RPG for the masses!

...

Eh? EH?

I think I had already made a thread about this, concerning the Wii... but it's burried around here somewhere... and I think it's a dead thread anyways.:-/ But anyways.... yeah, there's no doubt they'll make another console game for Gen V. Every Generation has gotten at least one or two, so I don't see why they'd stop now. It's just a matter of: is it gonna be an RPG, or something like the Stadiums and Battle Revolution? Personally, I'd prefer another RPG... the last one was XD, and that one was released quite a while ago. So I kinda think we're overdue for one.

We need another RPG, desperately! But I'm sick of Orre and Shadow Pokemon. They need an entirely new concept, but something that differentiates it from the main games.

Agreed. I don't know about what new concepts could be integrated, though.

We definitely need a proper storage system. Ranch is the absolute pits. Gen III had a marvelous mass storage solution with Pokemon Box: R&S, and as much as I wish Gen IV had gotten something similar it's obvious the time for that is now long past.

Gen V should have something like Box, though. With Box I could move hundreds of Pokemon between all my different GBA games in the blink of an eye. Ranch doesn't even allow you to withdraw to a different cartridge... and the fact Ranch is only compatible with 40% of the Gen IV games is pathetic.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get a DSiWare app that allows for storage.

What I'd like from a Gen V Console game is for it to have an actual story, like Colosseum and XD, just not Shadow Pokémon. Aside from that, it could have a Colosseum mode, and Stadium-style Minigames ('cos they ruled).

A DSi app for Pokemon storage would be epic, and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Anyway, back on topic. I would like to see another RPG/3D battler in the same type as Colo/XD. The stadium games were great, but the added story mode was a nice addition that was severly missed in PBR. I still think that PBR was a good game though and we really need something with online battle capabilities (maybe with added stat tracking?).

The leaders of GF once said in an interview that they don't want to put pokemon in consoles because they intended the game to be more socialable. i.e. they want the game to be able to play with friends wherever one might be. Thus the DS from nintendo was like the best thing GF saw.

For those who don't have a DSi, having a DSiWare app for pokemon storage is not the best idea in my opinion. However, you could trade between the console games and the handhelds to transfer pokémon between games.

Also, I didn't find the shadow pokemon games that bad, so a new development would be interesting, although unlikely, since they sort of locked any sequels by greevil stopping Cipher. However, maybe they could pull a GSCHgSs.

For once, I'm not really too bothered with next Gen's console game... Nothing can live up to Colosseum/XD:Gale of Darkness.

Have to say though, I felt "Battle Revolution" was a disappointment. So, yeah, if they do make a Pokémon game on the Wii/non-handheld console, I won't be buying it in a hurry.

I don't think whoever designed Box didn't intend for it to be usable for easily transferring pokemon from one game to another, but they didn't have the tech at the time to do it. Also, I'm disappointed too about the lack of the Platinum update outside of Japan (if were very lucky though, we may get a HGSS update that works as a platinum update and allows it to work with HGSS).

YES!

Additionally, I hope the Gen V console game has graphics that are at least as good as BR, because that was the best looking pokemon game I've ever seen.

All hope is lost if the console game's being developed by Genius Sonority. The quality in their titles has declined with every new game they've developed. Thus, their next title is doomed to be even worse than the god-awful PBR.

I just absolutely hate Genius Sonority and their failed attempts to recreate the main series RPGs and the Stadium games. Excluding Ambrella (there's no hope for them, they're just crappy), Genius Sonority is IMO probably the worst Pokémon-related development team. They should never be allowed to develop a game again after the disaster that was Pokémon Battle Revolution.

This.

The only good thing about Pabst Blue Ribbon (old joke? I haven't heard it, but then I'm new) was the Electivire, Magmortar, and evolution stones.

I think that's unlikely. Specific saves actually are restricted from withdrawing Pokemon they didn't desposit... until they've registered at least 100 Pokemon as caught in the Pokedex. So Box does have the ability to remember which save deposited which Pokemon, it just removes this restriction once you've accomplished enough within your games. That's a much better system than the one used with Wii games.

Not even Japan has had an update for Hg/Ss compatibility with Ranch. Unless they get one, I can't see those of us outside Japan getting anything at all.

Personally, I think Nintendo just doesn't care about it... I don't really blame them, considering how awful Ranch is. It's still annoying, though.

How about a 3D extension of the 2D games? With either a Stadium/Battle Revolution like mode or a story mode.

You place your data into the game like you did with BR and you get to play as your characters with all your Pokemon, in 3D, and the story relates to the handheld games plot.

But what if you lack a game? Then a default character or just the other modes?

No, I meant that if were very lucky, they might make a HGSS update and provide the update for every region.

We'd have to be really lucky for that to happen. Nintendo doesn't even seem interested in releasing a HgSs update for Japan at this point, or they would've done it by now.

And it was NoA's decision not to release the Platinum update outside Japan... in fact they explicity stated at some point in the past they weren't planning to release it. They never said why, though. Seems incredibly stupid to me, even if Ranch is total garbage. Even if Nintendo of Japan developed another update for Ranch, I don't see any reason for NoA to change their minds about not updating Ranch. We aren't even sure why they didn't bother the first time... I mean, the software was already available to them. Wouldn't have been much work involved in getting it up there.

pffft why hasn't anyone even mentioned Pokemon Snap in this thread? If there's one Pokemon console game that hasn't been totally horrible/useless it'd be Pokemon Snap. I wanna be able to see pokemon actually doing things. not just random encounters in tall grass etc.
