It was the natural order of the world for the strong to prosper and the weak to fall.
The Console Wars have been raging for decades now with no end in sight. Fanboys on all sides wage battles on message boards and forums in the name of their favorite console dynasty, and many a soul has fallen victim to dreaded trolls in such places. The reigning champion since the ancient times of the 1980s, the Nintendo Kingdom, has seen its heirs to the video game throne continue on through the years, but long-time rival Sony and the more recent upstart Microsoft have fought their hardest in the wars in an attempt to assert dominance. Power fluctuates constantly between the three superpowers of the video game world, but a long time ago, there was once another mighty force vying for influence.
This force… was known as Sega.
It was a once-powerful group that nearly toppled the Nintendo Kingdom back in the brutal war of the 1990s. After this near victory, Sega fell from grace with each successive heir until its final leader, the Dreamcast, was forced to throw in the towel of defeat at the bloody "Battle of the Sixth Generation" and thus withdrew from any further attempts at domination.
Years have passed since that tragic, crushing, and humiliating loss.
Rumor has it that a small faction still exists that waves the Sega flag proudly and defiantly. All they wish for is revenge against those who caused them to topple over into 3rd-party obscurity, and they will stop at nothing to remake the video game world in their blue image.
After all, it is as they say in their battle cry: Sega does what Nintendon’t. But this war is not just against Nintendo.
It is against all those who stand in the way of Sega’s rightful place in the video game world.
RULES:
Claiming
1) You are allowed to claim your ability/role-claim. However, please do not directly quote your role PM for this. Instead, paraphrase your ability if you need to describe how it works.
2) No name-claiming is allowed in this game. If you do so, you will be modkilled.
3) Similarly, do not try to hint who your character is (for example, something like “my console costs X amount of money” or “my console had a different name in different regions” is not allowed).
4) Fake-claiming an ability is totally fine!
5) The short version of all this is that no direct quoting is allowed from your role PM, and the only things from it you are allowed to claim are your ability and to say “I’m town” or really generic things like that.
Communications
1) Private communications are allowed and encouraged! You may use a QT, PMs, or Skype, and please let me see all private communication that takes place for this game. Add me as a recipient in all PMs, send me a link to your QT, and add me into your chat on Skype (I’m arcadiaarclight). Sending me a chat log via PM of Skype/IM conversations is also fine.
Game Conduct
1) Screenshots are not allowed, but copy/paste is okay. For example, if hypothetically someone wants some proof about a QT or PM, you can copy and paste what was said there in its entirety.
2) HOWEVER you may not directly copy/paste from any PM I sent.
3) Keep everything civil. It’s okay to get a little annoyed over things (it definitely happens, I think we’ve all had our moments like that in games), but please refrain from insults or anything that does not fall under the BMGF site rules. Keep it tasteful.
4) Please inform the thread if you change your username during the game so we all know who you are.
5) To vote use the format VOTE: Player, and to unvote, be sure to note that with a UNVOTE: Player.
Game Specific Info
1) In the case of a tie between a player and no lynch – i.e. “FinalArcadia has 4 votes and 4 people also voted No Lynch” – the lynch will win out and take place.
2) Day phases are 48 hours and night phases are 24 hours.
3) I send out all night action PMs (such as copchecks) shortly after the phase has ended, as quick as I can.
4) Feel free to ask for a vote count, and I will gladly post one in-thread!
5) No extensive knowledge of video game consoles is needed. You won’t be killed just because you don’t know how much RAM a GameCube has or something, so don’t worry!
6) As the intro FT implies, this will be a fairly light-hearted game in tone. Just thought I'd throw that out here so nobody is disappointed when consoles don't die in gritty realism... though I imagine that would be pretty fun to write.
7) If you have any questions, let me know via PM! I’m happy to clear things up and I don’t bite!
