Contact Park

Actually, it's not really too much of a surprise. The place is north of Yosuga City where the Contest Participation Building is located and where trainers face Merissa. I never bothered to really explore it since it didn't affect my trainer card rank, though there were a few times I tried to access it and wondered why I couldn't.

Sounds cool. I remember the pikachu in Yellow. Have you ever tried running away from it. That's one fast pika! Still, I'm saving up for a DS and I don't have D/P so I guess this'll be the only time I post on here...

I got into it accidently with my Fuwante like, in the first week I had it. XD

Score! Another reason to love Fuwante's line! (Like I needed one! [/sarcasm])

Huh. You can take Torchic in but none of the other starters. Odd. Unless it's not a complete list.

Does the game disallow the use of items inside? Because technically... couldn't you evolve Pikachu with a Thunderstone? Then what would it do?

How are there things about this game that are still a surprise to those who didn't import? (Not that that is a bad thing.)

So roughly where in the game is it?

I was thinking of planning for it but I'll probably just try it out with a non-team capture and leave planned usage for the third game.

unfortunately, its no where near as cool as it sounds. Not many pokemon are allowed in the park... its poke-racism is what it is! :(

I really wanted to walk around in it with my buizel, sandshrew, and rotom.

I thought the list of allowed Pokemon in was a little weird, too. I was more than anything expecting the "cute and popular starter" Pokemon list from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon along with Pachirisu and the Sinnoh starters thrown in. Oh well.

Oh, and you can get the game's amulet coin in the park as well. But really it's just a cute little diversion to get free berries.

Well, free berries are always good. No need to wait four hours to water a plant, I guess.

Any list of berries available?

Wait...if it's similar to Yellow's Pikachu, does that mean that they have a bunch of different animated sprites for each of the eligible Pokémon's moods? Dang...

If so, someone should rip them and post them. :p

Oh, I see; I was wondering otherwise because Bulbapedia vaguely said "The setup in Contact Park is identical to the Pikachu interaction system." :|

Could someone clarify to me then how this works? For instance, does the Pokémon follow you around; if so, do you talk to it to see its "mood"? Since it just shows text, I assume it just says "Skitty is happy right now" or something.

Also, does "mood" just mean its tameness/happiness? Sorry for all the questions; I have an annoyingly fecund mind. :p

You can only check your Pokedex, trainer card, save, and go to the options menu while in the park. You can't access your bag or even your Pokemon.

So can you bring eggs in here?
If you could, you could kill two birds in one stone.

All your Pokemon except the one you enter with are taken from you.

I'd hardly call it identical. Your Pokemon will follow you around like in Yellow and you can talk to it but it doesn't do anything.

You really cannot do a whole lot in the park and it doesn't really serve any real purpose. It's a nice referential nod to Pokemon Yellow but aside from that, free berries and the Amulet Coin - not really worth bothering with.
