Moving this from the other topic...

Is it possible to do contests over WiFi? If so, we should definitely organize something for those, shouldn't we?

It's strange, but I haven't heard anything said about them.

Guess people don't care enough about them to care if they can do them online? <=/

But is there at least multiplayer on WiFi?

I had assumed that if the Contests WERE online that the Contest Hall on Resort Island was the spot for it. I've never managed to actually get into that Contest Hall - and with my apathy over contests in general, haven't really bothered to find out anything about it, but it's got to exist for a reason, right?

It seems rather cruel to require the player to win 20 contests before being allowed to play over WFC.

The division between local wireless and Wi-Fi activities falls under pre-release information. The only surprise that has been noted since the release is Mystery Gift, in which Wi-Fi can apparently be used for receiving data from the Nintendo server (but not for the receiving of gifts from friends).

I remember reading on a Japanese web site that the Resort Island was principly designed for Pokémon imported from the GBA games, where attaining 20 ribbons is a more reasonable task. After all, the 20 contest ribbons are almost impossible to attain on one Pokémon, due to the distribution of the five attributes. Having forgotten the web site in question and not owning the game myself, I would wager that the Resort Island Contest Hall differs from the Yosuga Hall in the Pokémon used by the NPC. It could be that only there do the NPC use non-Sinnoh Dex Pokémon (in Emerald the Lilycove Hall is upgraded upon obtaining the National Dex).

Can anyone confirm that the Yosuga Hall remains the same even after obtaining the National Dex?

That sucks.

I wonder if there's any alternative way to do them? I know there's some people here who want to have fun but not really get involved in the major competitive battling...

Hmm. Maybe something more breeding related, like a Pokémon Show? Checking up on the status and the like? But with no online aspect except checking stats, it'd probably be even more RP-based than the rest. Hrm...
