Coping with a Lost Game

Here I am with a bit of a sob story, which may or may not be familiar to you. Simply put, I lost my Pokemon X cart with about 60+ hours put into it. I hadn't yet moved any Pokemon into Bank, so everything from the hard-raised team to the Vivilon collection, Diancie, the Pokebank Celebi, all the other legendaries and eggs. All gone. It's been a month and I've mostly gotten over it, though I haven't had the heart to touch Omega Ruby and I keep getting twinges. It totally brings back the feeling as a kid of having my Blue, official certified Mew included, having its save wiped clean one day. Not sure I can go through this anymore.

So, anyone else got a coping mechanism or their own story to share?

Story of my life. I've had my Red version (everything caught, maxed play time etc) and a few nes games stolen a long time ago by a "friend". Another one made it a point to indefinitely borrow some of my ps1 rpgs without informing me he was moving; I've long since resolved myself to never loan anything out to anyone except family. And pick my friends more carefully.

Just lost my copy of X... as well as four other games. Note to self: those small packs to store game cards are easy to lose.

You can guess how many mons I will lose to this... ;_;

Fortunately the Diancie was moved to my AS copy, which I didn't lose, but the mons I bred that are still in X... The Friend Safaris... The Poké Bank Celebi... ;_;

Edit: Turns out the games were only lost for a couple days. Thank goodness. However, I still think that those game packs are evil.

It's been almost 2 years since I've lost my copies of Red, Sapphire, FireRed, Emerald, and Ruby & Sapphire Pinball. I still believe they are in my house, just tucked away under piles of junk in a dark hard to reach corner. There's not any important Pokemon that I can't get back, but I want to play those games again. I haven't gotten over their absence, not until I know whether they are in the house or not.

I know the feel, I've lost many of those Game holding packs. Mostly DS ones.

I had pack for my Emerald game.

Long story short, I lost 200+ hours of gameplay. I played it so much even the internal clock had even ran out.

I've never lost a cartridge in the misplaced sense but it's been recently 8 years now since my original Silver battery died taking everything that was important to me with it because while I had Stadium 2 I'd just learned the concept of the save battery.
To be honest I hadn't turned it on in ages at the time I'd found it erased because I was basically done doing everything in it but it still hurt to lose some Pokemon that really meant a lot to me especially when I figured out that had I known better I could have saved them. That play through just came with a lot of great memories in general. My best friend on her Gold version and I had basically done it together. We were even sitting side by side when we both beat the elite four and entered Kanto. So yeah it sucked and I don't think I picked up a Pokemon game after that for a while.

Sorry to hear that... :(

I remember a long time ago, I needed to borrow a friends game to make some trades. He was reluctant to let me borrow it, but I convinced him by promising to get him some rare pokemon (Action replay days, don't judge me, some of them were practically impossible to get, ok??? LOL). So I do what needs to be done at home on both games, and i'm excited to get it to him. So i'm on the bus, and i'm pulling out the games, one of his and one of mine. The bus pulls to a jerking halt, and guess what? The games fly out of my hand. Now... I couldn't really ask the driver to stop so I could find games, or maybe I could've, but considering the conduct policy, I wasn't supposed to have games and electronics anyway, so my chances of being able to look were slim, not to mention some kid might've already picked it up (It went several seats ahead of me, about 5 rows). I was crushed... You can imagine how he felt. One of the worst days of my life.

I know how it feels to lose a game you've worked so hard on. I misplaced my copy of Platinum a few years ago, and it had all my event legends and EV-trained Pokemon. I was devastated. I stopped playing Pokemon for about a year and a half because I was so upset. After that, I felt I was ready to start again.

Aw man, I know the feel! It's been about a year since I found out my very first Pokemon Game (Silver <3), which I began playing super young and received as a gift from my brother, has had its save data erased due to a dry internal battery. I didn't play it often once I got newer games, but I sure was ridiculously attached to my Team on there. I wrote fanfics and everything about those Pokemon when I was younger. Needless to say, it was a loss harder than it should've been and it still sucks to think about.

As a child, my Gameboy Color was stolen along with my Red version after I left it in my cubby (elementary 'lockers' for kids) at school one afternoon. I came in the next day to pick it up, but it was gone. When I asked my counselors, they wouldn't tell me anything because I guess we weren't supposed to have electronics or something. I was mad about that for a while, but mostly because I had lost the console without a trace. My friend had almost entirely beaten Red for me, so I wasn't as concerned about the game (I didn't play pokemon as much then as I do now). Since then, I've long gotten over it, but I always wonder what happened to that Gameboy.

Besides that, I've lost my Crystal and Ruby versions to misplacement, which have always been disheartening but never worrisome. I've also lost all my good pokemon, including legit shinies (when they were much more challenging to get), from my Diamond. That happened when I traded all my pokemon to my friend one day so I could start over my game, but before I could get them back, the friend had given his game to his own friend (my friend had lost his friend's game) before I could get my pokemon back. It was, again, a little disheartening, but it didn't take me long to get over it.

Nonetheless, I feel everyone's pain. I am distraught to this day about losing my old Gamecube memory card with all my chao garden data from SA2B. Before pokemon, that was the game I poured my heart and soul into.

Technically, I've never lost a cart, although I have misplaced my copies of Red, Silver and Crystal. However, due to their age I may as well call them lost. I know that the Pokemon on those carts are gone, thanks to the internal batteries of those games finally dying. There's no chance I can ever get my Venusaur Bruticus back. Bruti was my first Pokemon ever and I know that he's probably gone now, without any way I could ever save him. The same with everyone else on those carts, like my level 100 Mewtwo and my level 100 Lugia. All those Pokemon are gone and there's no real way to replace them. It sucks. It truly sucks.

I think that's why I moved my shiny Automaton horde to my Pokemon Bank account a few weeks ago. The thought popped into my head, "What would I do if by some streak of foul luck I lost my copy of X and my shinies were gone?" and I had to move them over. I know that they're all safe now, which puts me a bit at ease.

I no longer have any games before gen 4 having lost them all, as well as losing Diamond.

My original Pokémon Ruby game was thrown out of a first-story window (second-story for the American readers) and was destroyed; I remember being really down about that.

Also, I still feel a hole in my heart whenever I recall how my first Pokémon Red file was deleted because my older brother used my game to try the MissingNo glitch. I've named every single Blastoise I've owned since then "Tinything", in honour of my first ever Pokémon.

A few weeks before ORAS came out, me and my brother couldn't find my original Pokemon Ruby when we were cleaning his room and the trash bags that our uncle stuffed with junk into the attic. We assumed that the game is lost and there isn't much of a point in trying to find it some more since the remakes were coming out soon at the time. But we did find some other games that was missing for a few years or so, and my Pokemon Blue and our Pokemon Gold were also missing.
