Could Brandon be Paul and Reggie's father like we thought?

In the most recent ep Paul talked to Brock about how Reggie never won at the Battle Pyramid and didn't get the 7th symbol.

I remember when DP first started people joked about how Paul looked like Brandon's son, but could this actually be true?

Could Brandon and his flying pyramid make another appearance and confirm that he is the father of Paul and Reggie?

It's possible. The fact they revisited it again really does make it possible, I think.

I think they just mentioned it so Shinji could talk about how he doesn't want to be weak like his brother.

But could it be possible? I don't understand Japanese so I rely on you guys to explain what they were saying.

I'm no expert but as far as I could get - Brock mentioned Reggie doesn't have Brandon's Symbol
Than Paul said something like he thought that was not forgivable and that he doesn't want to be like his brother
I think Paul is really stupid about this... Brandon isn't just one of the Frontier Brains - he's a special one you must win the other 6 to get a chance to battle him... he use legendary Poké... lose to Brandon really doesn't mean you're weak
Especially when Reggie did get all the regular symbols and all of Kanto+Johto+Hoenn+Sinnoh badges

I think it'd be nice if Brandon is their father... maybe he can return and do something with Regigigas
Maybe Reggie gets another battle with him and this time win and prove you can win this way
I guess when Paul stop being Ash's rival he'll probably go to the Kanto BF to try and get equal to (or surpass if Reggie doesn't get another battle with Brandon and win) Reggie... and hopefully they remember the Orange Islands and have him go there after that to try and catch up with Ash's achievements

like Norman of Petalburg is father to May and Max.

edit: Reggie does sound a lot like "Regi" as in the Regi trio (all three of which Brandon uses).

I think it'd be pretty cool if Brandon turned out to be Paul and Reggie's dad. It'd be a great piece to add to the puzzle that is Paul's character. And I recall seeing on Dogasu's site that Brandon continued to be gruff and disrespectful to Ash beyond his first episode in the Japanese version, so I can easily imagine Paul being his kid. Of course, Brandon's not cruel like Paul can be, but I imagine having that rough persona in his genes in addition to reputation issues, being the younger son, etc. would amp up the cruelty in Paul a bit, plus who else knows what. Reggie's personality is very different from the two of them, but he's grown up and probably matured in a more positive way; a way where he certainly found himself, at least. Either that or maybe he just took after mom instead of dad. For a breeder, though, Reggie's a very accomplished trainer as well what with having virtually every badge and symbol presently existing in the Pokemon world pre-Platinum aside from Brandon's symbol. Career choice aside, he would certainly meet Brandon's standards. Paul's seeking to do the same thing, more-or-less, so it fits.

Then there's the similarity between Reiji and Reji/Reggie and Regi, it would be a perfect opportunity to showcase Regigigas properly to have Brandon show up again, plus... Sinnoh's Battle Frontier has only five Brains (six really, but two come in the same package) opposed to Hoenn's seven, so if the anime wanted to, they could easily throw in Brandon and this sort of plot. Only problem being that if they want to make Jun a recurring rival as well, we'd much more likely be facing this kind of plot with him and Palmer instead. That'd make the Paul/Brandon thing a little redundant. Too early to tell what's waiting in the wings. The anime might even use the decreased number of Frontier Brains to pace that impending series later a bit better than they handled the last Battle Frontier.

Still, Ash's OTHER long-term rival, Gary, at least has an established family in Professor Oak. It would be fitting to give Paul a similar distinction. And, what with Brandon flying everywhere on his pyramid all the time, it'd perfectly explain why we never see Paul's actual parents while the group was in Veilstone.

I could be looking too much into it, but I think it would be fun. Certain Japanese fanartists seem to think so, too. Some really good ones made images that just make the prospect of the whole thing seem that more inviting. Either way, it's definitely possible. Probability, on the other hand, is an entirely different ballpark...

Well, it seems very likely for a variety of reasons. They brought in Paul IMMEDIATELY after Brandon, and while they reuse character designs constantly it's hardly ever that quickly; they brought up the Brave symbol twice (well once in dialogue and once in visual), they have the name Reiji in there and the dubbers made sure it was translated similarly (at least the English ones did, I'm not sure about any others)...

...and then there's who *else* Paul looks like. After the animators only gave us two seconds of the GSC Rival and then only in a still shot, and THEN they toss us this "redheaded kid" business that's very unlikely to ever be brought up on the show (and even if Rival comes back, he may not be Gio's kid there--heck, Gary's sister is all over the games and she doesn't exist on the show), so this may be their way of making up for that.

Hmm. I think it's a cute idea, but I'm not entirely hooked that it could become canon.

But what Shinneth said about Jun and Palmer, the anime would probably lean towards something that is actual canon.
But the fact that Regigigas is most likely to appear sooner or later along the line and seeing as you need the three other golems to unlock it, why not have him back in?

So yeah, perhaps we might just see him reappear, but until then, the Paul/Reggie/Brandon patriarchal thing is a little vague to say the least.

I agree. It would be neat continuity if it were true.

If Brandon appears again, we'll also get to hear his, "NOOOOOOOOO!" spiel toward Ash again.

^^ I still don't get if that was supposed to be a funny running gag. Heck, we might here it if someone asks if he is Paul and Reggie's father--wishful thinking. :p

Well he could be. i mean brandon and paul nearly look the same and reggie does have the name of regice, regirock, registeel and regigigas.

But we just have to wait for time to tell.

(Well at least paul and reggie have a "suppose" father not like Ash. xD)
