Paul is my favorite as I mentioned before, but could his team beat the likes of Charizard, Swellow, Snorlax, Heracross, Sceptile, etc. He only has Pokémon that he deems worthy and powerful enough to be on his team. Based on his usual choices I would say that his top Pokémon are; Torterra, Weavile, Urasring, Magmortar, Electabuzz, Honchcrow, Gliscor (which will probably be seen again at the league if he still has it, but I think he does), Nidoking/Hariyama/Lairon(all 3 may be seen again at some point in the league). Since he has been around almost as much as Ash these are his top picks. Most of his top Pokémon have been beaten/injured almost to the point of being beaten by Ash’s Sinnoh team (minus Pikachu). This says a lot considering Ash’s team does not have as much experience as those on Paul’s team that has been around regions. I think that if Ash used his brain he could have beaten Paul in just about each battle that they have had so far. I mean if his Johto/Kanto starters were actually in their final forms he would definitely be a trainer to be reckoned with! To me Paul would have his hands full because Sceptile’s speed would make a great asset to counter Torterra’s powerful attacks
(both grass types have their own loner attitudes that would make a great battle/Bayleef is too nice but evolved it would put up a good fight but I don’t think it could win/Bulbasaur well if it would evolve Ash would be in a great position to win. Swellow’s great speed/endurance would give Honchcrow a run for its money, Snorlax vs Urasring would be a sight to see, and I could go one. I think that most of you can see where I am going with this. If Ash actually used his Pokemon’s unique abilities to his advantage things would go a bit smoother for him. For example, while he was teaching Starly how to use Aerial Ace, why didn’t he just bring up Swellow to show it how to do it? Not to mention his other Pokémon may have learned some new techniques from each other, themselves, or the trainer’s Pokémon that are at Oak’s lab. I hope that if Ash does go up against the BF/Elite 4/Sinnoh League he brings back some of his old powerhouses.
