Could the TRio have became Ash's allies and not return to evil?

I was watching the Gainax Anime "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" that had a trio of jewel thieves like with similarities to the Team Rocket Trio though the show came before Pokemon. Grandis was clearly the inspiration for Jessie with her red hair though her rich background was used for James whose prissy personality in turn was inspired probably by Sanson. Hanson, the wisecracking, mechanical worrywart, has similarities to Meowth as well.

After facing the series antagonist, Gargoyles, for the first time, the three thieves as well as the three protagonists, Jean, Nadia and Marie, are brought aboard the Nautilus and become allies fast. This is sorta like how Team Rocket sometimes team up with the twerps only in Nadia the Grandis gang stay good. Could the same be done or should the same have been done for Jessie, James and Meowth? Could they've been permanent allies for Ash?

I imagine that if Team Rocket as a whole was disbanded in Johto (assuming they had a plot line from the get-go), Giovanni would be arrest and Jessie, James and Meowth would escape. Whether they'd be recurring characters or not in Hoenn, I'm not sure.

They could've done it...before BW. Now, TR will always be TR. They are truly evil now, and there is no redeeming them. What if they did? It would've meant their end whenever they chose to do it. I really don't think there would be anything more to do with them if they were redeemed somehow.

I'm sure the Twerp Gang and TR Trio may team up for short periods as they have before, but any full redemption for them just seems too late for me.

Hell, they practically did with the COUNTLESS times they teamed up and TR helped out people in need. Them turning good would've made a lot more sense than them being the Worst Villains Ever and then inexplicably becoming sinister all over again o_O

I agree with Samurott, even though they retain some kindness towards pokemon, they have reached a new level of cruelness with the tirtouga episodes, as well as the way they chased down meloetta. They have lost all redemption chances, unless they do something really good.

No they weren't. They were based on the trio of bad guys from Time Boken.

They are truly evil now, and there is no redeeming them.

They weren't evil then, and they sure as heck aren't evil now. I see no reason why they wouldn't become good/neutral guys at the end.

I think those of you thinking they're evil and can't be redeemed are forgetting this whole serious persona in BW is just an act. The TRio don't have an evil bone in their body.

I don't consider the radio show to be canon, nor the twitter feed. I know what they said is a possible explanation, but I think it was to distance the show as much as possible from the anime. If there is reason to believe otherwise, please enlighten me. (I will not accept that it's the same voice actors. I've seen many publicity stunts just like this that had no relevence to anything and they involved the real cast of something)

I would like to hope they'll team up some time up coming episodes, I don't think being redeemed is out of the question, yah they've turned into cold people now but at some point they are going to have to realize what they are doing is wrong. James and Meowth have good hearts, did that really just suddenly go away?

They've promoted it during the anime and on the official site. I don't see how it wouldn't be.

James and Meowth have good hearts,

And Musashi doesn't?

Yes, it is canon... It's officially approved Twitter account and officially approved radio show, why wouldn't it be canon? Not to mention that it was promoted on anime sites as well...

Also you forgot about Hitomoshi episode in which Team Rocket teamed up with the twerps. And Kojiro even saved Dento.

Musashi has a good heart too (if you stopped watching dub maybe you'd notice), and Kojiro isn't any better than her when it comes to evil stuff. He's always enjoyed doing evil stuff, it's not like he was totally innocent, poor boy who's forced to do such things.

Fair enough. We'll just have to see what eventually happens. When I think about it, they haven't really done anything particularly evil, save for Meowth, but Ash and co have been double crossed by TR several times over. (I still feel this particular instance crossed a line since he went so far as to be his old self again, whether that was genuine or just part of his elaborate hoax)

I become very angry every time the Team Rocket flees. I hate that they do not get what they deserve. At first I thought they were serious just because this is the first-time that Giovanni takes them seriously since first season, and honestly one thing has not changed: they do the same plan several times, that results frustrated because all the pokemon attack the helicopter XD... ToT I'm so sad ._. If the TRio became evil and serious... what will happen with Cassidy and Biff? they were evil and super duper at beginning.

Maybe a temporary truce during the first seasons. Honestly I think that would have happened if Team Plasma had not been banned. Apart from the movies of Lugia and Entei, J & J & M only help when they have a common enemy with Ash and the twerps (like Cassidy and Bloch, or Team Galaxy).

I think they take Giovanni's order too seriously.

They are still the same TRio, but after they got their promotion, they think that they should be evil enough to fit in the post. But, for me Giovanni is using them for some reason rather than really take them seriously. I think they will soon realize this and may revert to their old selves.

I hope to see TRio helping the twerps to fight Giovanni in the end.

I guess its true, Jessie does have her moments of having a good heart she just doesn't show it as much as James and Meowth. Most of the times its James/Meowth V.S Jessie over the right thing to do.

Last time Kojiro and Nyasu teamed up over "the right thing to do" was the Rakurai center ep where imo they acted like complete, complete assholes. Kojiro and Nyasu all of sudden felt pity for some random Pokemon and Musashi didn't? Let's bring her to tears and let her run into the forest in the middle of night while we care about some stupid pokemon! I wouldn't call betraying your friend like this having a good heart.

That episode was just OOC bullshit overall.

I say no. Even if they did, they'd just get replaced with a "clone" of TR

I agree. They became much more awesome IMHO, but they still get thwarted easily. If Zager's Helicopter had a Protect function, they'd probably would've gotten away with the Kami trio.
But I'm getting off-topic here. They did have a good side in the Litwick episode, though only during the last few minutes, and there were countless other times were they had to team up. It could easily happen again.

What's strange in the episode with the Lampent and the Litwick is that when the TRio and the twerps teamed up the TRio didn't double cross them which would be what they would usually do and what I expected. They even pulled their own weight in the temporary truce by James saving Cilan.
